You watching this game? I've only got radio here. What the hell happened on the Damon tag out on the walk? I've never heard of anything like that...hit me up if you've got an explanation.

i've got radio as well...i found this item over at sons of sam horn: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLAY. Runner on first and three balls on batter: Runner steals on the next pitch, which is fourth ball, but after having touched second he overslides or overruns that base. Catcher's throw catches him before he can return. Ruling is that runner is out. (Force out is removed.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- that's from the official rulebook. he was running on the pitch, it was ball 4, he overslid the bag, jeter maintained the tag, he was out. kind of BS, but thems the rules. in response to the mariano thing from the other thread...he didn't throw much all spring and it's showing. he has no location whatsoever, it's like someone kidnapped him and replaced him with rick vaughn. whether it's the sox in his head or not, i do not know. i am not hysterical about it like some of the bridge jumping yanks fans i know, but it is definitely a concern. A-Rod's error proved to be extremely costly, if he doesn't bobble that ball we're talking about mo weaving in and out of trouble. now everyone is in full fledged crisis mode. he has a shot at redemption next week at fenway, hopefully he'll have some practice against the Orioles this weekend. but don't count me among those calling for tom gordon to close. jeter batted 130 in april last year and turned it around. rivera has earned the benefit of the doubt. It's not BS. Essentially, Damon tried to take an extra base on the walk, which is legal, but you do at your own risk. He was caught.

So he came off the bag and Jeter maintained the tag...that clears it up. Wow, what a weird play.
Very true about the ARod error, that killed Mo. It was a double play ball and he got no one.
I wouldn't sweat it if I was a Yank fan...Matsui looks like he's giving Ortiz a run for the MVP race.

one of the stranger regular season calls i have ever seen made. arod got mo out of a bases loaded no out jam in the july 1st game last season [jeter into the stands game]...the force at 3rd and perfect throw over kapler to get the tag. he can boot one once in awhile too, but after what happened with Tek on Tuesday, he sure didn't do Mo any favors with that one. Matsui is locked in. So is Ortiz. Neither team can get the other one out. This is gonna be fun to watch. i'm not worried about big Mo the more i thought about it. if he works out his control issues he'll be fine. no one hit the ball hard all series except for Tek...and that was probably the worst pitch i have seen him throw since the walkoff shot in the Arod brawl game last season. a two seamer that should have been a cutter. we haven't seen his good stuff yet, either. so, either he has lost it completely since last season, or he's just off to a slow start. i think it's the latter...at least i hope it's the latter. we'll see at fenway on monday So he came off the bag and Jeter maintained the tag...that clears it up.
