I don't follow nascar at all but hopefully Brendan gets to keep his position with the #77 car. It's nice to see a Hoya having success regardless of what it is, so hopefully things will work out and he'll start performing like he did in his last race more often.

I would have to think they wouldn't give up on Brendan after just one year, would they? I too don't really follow the ins and outs of Nascar at all, but I read a bunch of articles that kept talking about how much potential Brendan has and that he might someday make a really big impact. If this is true, seems like they'd want to give him more than one season to figure it all out and get in some kind of groove. Or maybe not, I don't really know how much turnover they see from year to year.
Hopefully he'll be able to stick with it and keep doing well...

My College roomate used to have a lot of fun frustrating the crap out of Brendan -- conversation would go something like this:
Brendan: I race trucks roomate: Cool! Like in the desert! I love that off-road stuff! Brendan: No, on a track. roomate: Oh, yeah, like those little sprint cars, very cool. Brendan: No, on a paved track, like nascar. roomate: (feigning confusion) Why don't you just drive a car, then? Brendan: (now very frustrated) No, you don't understand . . . .
Worked every time.

That's what I was going to say... I knwo his father did the Baja 1000 and other races, I think Brendan did too.

I am more of an Indy car person myself and I would preface all of this by saying that I called him for some tix to the Delaware race and didn't hear back. Although I have to say that I probably wouldn't have rushed to get back if I was in his shoes since he hasn't heard from me in about 4 years. As far as racing goes, his Penske team hasn't had the equipment all year long to run with the big boys. Brendan has then ended up in the back of the pack to start races and frequently that means getting tied up in an accident.
I watched bits of this past race and Brendan raced really well. He did make some rookie errors though like coming into the pits over the speed limit which cost him a penalty lap. This was early in the race when he actually was leading. I think they will give him another year. It seems that they are making some progress but Brendan has to race very consistently these next few and not make those kinds of mistakes.

Brendan came in with his second straight top 10 finish on Sunday at #10. He might well get another ride next year.

I can't figure why he's getting pushed aside, especially as a rookie. Outside of the very top echelon, he's as good as anyone else on that tour.

I think this is pretty old as B. Gaughan finished 30th the other day. He has had a couple of solid performances so we'll have to see. Penske doesn't put up with much in terms of waiting for someone to develop.
