Can someone explain to me why the Big East has women's lacrosse but not men's? GU, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Rutgers, St. John's, Villanova, and Providence all have DI men's programs. The only explanation I could come up with is maybe Syracuse wants to remain independent and the conference would be really weak without them. I wouldn't shed any tears if we left the ECAC, a conf. with no automatic bid, and I'm sure other schools wouldn't mind leaving their lax conferences either. For example, ND plays in the Great Western conference for lax, 'Nova in the Colonial. Not legendary conferences there.

Can someone explain to me why the Big East has women's lacrosse but not men's? One word: Syracuse. The Orangemen don't want to give up the extra home games and the status of playing whoever they want.

That's what I figured. Has there been any push to go ahead and form a BE lax division without Syracuse? Doesn't seem like Urick would be thrilled with that since none of the other programs are currently at our level.
Funny that the BE has this problem in two sports: Syrcause for lax and Notre Dame for football.
