The first weekend of February starts with the Hoyas in two different meets again. The Armory Invitational Meet will be in New York City at the NY Armory on Feb. 4 and 5. The same days some of the Hoyas will be at Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational Meet.

Apparently, the men's mile at the Meyo meet at Notre Dame will be pretty good with our own Chris Lukezic one of the attractions:
So far I've heard Benninger and Somok from Notre Dame, Spiker from Wisconsin, The Jeffersons from IU, Lukezic from Georgetown, this DII guy who ran 4:05, and Watson formerly of Notre Dame. I wouldn't be surprised if some other Wisco guys jumped in, maybe Willis, and then possibly Gras or Greenless. Should be a pretty decent field but we will see how it plays out. Peace

The only results that I could find from last night were from the Meyo meet at Notre Dame. The only entry last night was the women's distance medley relay (the men did not have an entry and no entries last night). The Hoyas' DMR team did great as they were second to Michigan in a time of 11:08.6, which is an automatic qualifier for the NCAAs. UM was 11:05.33, and the 3rd place team was 11 seconds behind the Hoyas.

I don't know who ran the legs on the DMR. I just can conjecture that Colleen Kelly, who was 3rd in the mile behind Lindsey Gallo from Michigan, Maggie Infeld, Nana Hanson-Hall, and Kandance Ferguson. Probably Maggie ran the 1200, Kandy the 400, and Nana the 800. Lindsey Gallo got the fastest mile time of the year in 4:37.97, which was an automatic qualifier, with Colleen at 4:43.59; they were probably both anchoring for their respective teams. Lindsey had a 6 second advantage in the mile, but Michigan won the DMR by three seconds.

I made a pretty good guess on the makeup of the women's DMR. The following is from a Spiked Shoe Club email that I received today.
The Hoyas participated in the Meyo Invitational @ Notre Dame this past Friday-Saturday, February 4-5, 2005. This was another outstanding weekend for us, especially for our women's DMR on Friday night. That was followed by a number of "All Time" list performances on Saturday. Women: DMR: 11:08.60 #3 All Time at Georgetown NCAA Automatic Qualfier 1200: Maggie Infeld (3:26.7) #7 All Time 400: Kandance Ferguson(54.4) #15 All Time 800: Nana Hanson-Hall(2:09.0) #16 All Time 1600: Colleen Kelly(4:38.2) #2 All Time
This was a great job by a relatively young group. (Freshman-Sophomore-Sophomore-grad). In 2004 four seniors (Colleen Kelly-Monica Hargrove-Maura McCusker-Treniere Clement) set the school record of 11:07.24 and in 1997 four seniors (Maxine Clark-Ayana Wright-Amy Ross-Miesha Marzell) won the NCAA championship running 11:08.54. As you can see, this #3 all time performance is in some great company.
Other "All Time" list performances by athletes who found their way onto the list for the first time or moved up from a previous performance were:
Colleen Kelly (above plus 4:43.59 in the mile for #5 all time) Stanley Lagrenade (800 and 4 x 400 carry) Kandance Ferguson (above plus open 400) Nana Hanson-Hall (above plus open 800) Maggie Infeld (above plus open 800) Kelley Otstott (800) Sabine Knothe (800)
Remember, our next phonathon night is Wednesday, February 9. Pick up your phone and make a gift to support Georgetown Track & Field.
This coming weekend we will have a hand full of men's distance runners in Boston plus another 13 men and 12 women at Virginia Tech. The Big East is just around the corner on February 19-20 in Syracuse. Come out and cheer on the Hoyas!

This weekend offers us a choice of three meets: the Fastrack Invitational at Boston U., the USTCA Challenge at Penn State, and the Virginia Tech Invitational at VT. As the Spiked Shoe newsletter indicated, most will be at VT, plus some distance runners in Boston. For those in Syracuse plan on coming out to the dome to cheer for the Hoyas in the BE meet next week.

looks like debole is kind of shadow running with the team--guess he will be back for next year. Times looked good for the top runners, second level runners don't seem to be improving though

I think a lot of those 2nd level runners are freshman, so I am hoping that summer training will get them over the hump. I think Jon Geffrard shows promise, as 22.xx indoors is pretty good for a freshman (although not as good as the East Carolina freshman, who broke 45 s indoors for the 400m this weekend, only the 2nd or 3rd to have done that - Michael Johnson being the only one I am sure of).

Actually Geffrard is a sophomore. He tranfered to Georgetown this year. But he does seem to show alot of promise

Thanks, H3; I hadn't seen his name on any results previously, so I assumed he was a frosh. Thanks for the correction.

Good to see that Leilani Greene's mark at VT is a school record, breaking her own mark.
