This weekend the Hoyas are scheduled for both the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday and the Father Diamond Open on Saturday at George Mason. The Hoyas will apparently have different athletes attending the meets.

Contrary to what was posted on guhoyas.com, Georgetown did not seem to have any entries in the Father Diamond meet at GMU. Also, no word on Chris Lukezic and Rod Koborsi, GU's top distance runners. I assume they will be held out until other meets; both have had busy schedules through XC and track.

Good question, reformation. I have been hearing rumors that he may be back next year, but nothing definite. I hope at the very least, he has paid some remuneration for the damage he caused, and that he will mature as a result of his acts.

Just found this on the dyestat message board:
"I ran with the kid who was with Debole when the 'incident' happened and Matt was suspended for a year from school. 'Its just like he is red-shirting'"
The kid was Dan Tebbano. So it seems as if Matt will be back next year.

from a competitive standpoint at least its good that he'll be back--then men could use him and the women could use E. Maloy--unfortunately no sign of her in the early meets--hopefully she can come back

It is such a shame that Elizabeth has been injured so much. She is such a talented runner. Hope she is able to overcome her injuries.

This Saturday, Jan. 22, the Hoyas are competing in the Terrapin meet at the Prince Georges Sport and Learning Complex. Since the bball team doesn't play until Sunday, maybe we can get some area fans over to the meet to cheer the Hoyas. Since I will be out of town (San Diego for the National 30K Racewalk Championships), I won't be able to get results until Monday. Guhoyas.com has been pretty good this year so far in getting at least limited results, so check there Sunday. Otherwise, I will try to get a full report on Monday.

Chris Bonner is usually a 400m man, so the 800m is at the end of his strength; he will do okay. It is still early in the season, so I think they are still doing some experimentation with odd distances. Chris Lukezic hasn't run this year yet; I don't know if he is being held out of the early meets or being redshirted. I would expect him to redshirt one of these seasons, since he has been pretty active, since he came to GU.

The last meet(s) in January are the Penn State Open at PSU and the Terrier Classic in Boston. Sounds like a split squad again. Both meets run Friday and Saturday.

While there were no outstanding efforts at the PSU meet, there were a few very good marks at the Boston U. meet.
Women

5000m 3. Nicole Lee 16:27.02
Men
3000m 4. Rod Koborsi 7:55.85!!! (great run by Rod, as he was first collegian, just behind Mark Carroll, Alan Webb, and Dan Wilson, all pro runners and/or Olympians) 6. Chris Lukezic 8:04.09 (good effort by Chris in his first indoor race, as he was 2nd collegian).
5000m 3. Fleet Hower 13:58.64!!! (great run by Fleet, who keeps getting better and was first collegian in this race). 5. Steve Meinelt (running unattached this indoor season) 14:05.26 (2nd collegian).
