The indoor season officially begins today with a meet at Navy. The next meet is over a month away, so this is probably a pretty low meet for the Hoyas.

DFW, good find. He was gone before I got to GU, but my uncle, who was the moderator for the track team at GU, probably knew him well. Steve Benedik is the first track coach at GU that I knew.

Reformation, I think this was a conspiracy between the USNA and Georgetown to make sure that the GU website (http://www3.georgetown.edu/athletics/guhoyas/sports/m-track/spec-rel/120604aaa.html) had the results before I could get it out to you. I keep trying my regular sources, including the Navy athletic website (they are worse than ours), but no results over the weekend. The results, mainly the 4x800, 4x400, and a couple of 800m races, are on our website as listed above. No women results, so I don't know if they didn't compete or else were left out of the results. I will check.

Thanks for the detail Nevada,(as usual). As you mentioned a good showing for the frosh in the women's 1k--other times would not win the top hs meets, though I realize a lot of runners were probably running out of their normal specialty distances.

Yes, and it is early in the season, and they are probably getting used to the boards again. But Maggie is really showing her talent. Won by 5 seconds. Not bad.

I found myself laughing, when I looked at the women's results, which are now on the guhoyas.com site. Instead of having Nicole Torpey at 5.5m (18'1/2") in the LJ, they had her at 550 points. I hadn't know they score the long jump.
