Lehigh hosted the Paul Short XC run today. The Hoyas (men) won with a score of 94 points. I don't have the individual scoring yet, but Villanova, Auburn, and LaSalle followed. To put this in perspective, however, GU scored 31 points (low score wins) last year. So I don't know who they were running yet. They did hold a second race in the Open division. GU ran eight men in this division. The places and times are as follows: 14. Justin Scheid 25:55.04 (8K course, about 5 miles) 23. Nat Glackin 26:10.09 30. Shane Young 26:19.47 36. Mike Kenny 26:23.38 40. Alex Guney 26:27.42 111. Scott Bastek 27:31.93 113. Neil Grosscup 27:34.23 (anybody know if Neil is the son of great college QB Lee Grosscup?) 144. Stanley Lagrenade 28:18.83 232 runners finished. Courtney Jaworski, who ran at GU as a frosh, but now runs for Penn finished 22nd in 26:08.05, just before other 800m runner Nat Glackin.
The women finished 5th, which is down from their winning this race last year. Tennessee, Villanova, Columbia, and William and Mary were ahead of the Hoyas. Again, no individual results in the invitational meet. The open race had Colleen Kelly, who was running unattached (might have graduated), finished 2nd in 21:26.28 and Meghan O'Neil finished 32nd in 23:34.14.

Some more results (still not complete) on the Paul Short meet. Our five men scores in the invitational meet (where we beat Villanova 94-101) are as follows: 8. Fleet Hower 24:14.85 9. Chris Lukezic 24:15.31 18. Chris Esselborn 24:33.61 33. Dan Nunn 24:55.76 35. Brian Dalpiaz 24:59.92
I am scratching my head to try to figure out how Fleet beat Chris is a sprint finish (0.46 s), as Chris was the #5 miler in the US last year. LOL. Good run Fleet. I hear GU did not run two of their top seven runners. Rob Koborsi, who was either #1 or #2 man last year, did not show up in the top 50, so I gather he didn't run. The spread was 45 s, which is fairly good, but we have done better.

Final results from the Paul Short meet. The rest of the men finishers were Michael Banks 66th at 25:24.32 and Tommy Manning 73rd at 25:32.6. The first five actually finished in places 7,8,17,30,32 (if you eliminate those who ran unattached or for schools not fielding a full team),
The women finished 5th with 156 points, yet they held out a few of the top runners. The placings:
4. Nicole Lee 20.50.98 17. Maggie Infeld 21:27.01 36. Erin Henry 21:56.4 45. Melissa Grelli 22:04.95 54. Sabine Knothe 22:11.85 74. Kelly Otstott 22:39.95 119. Nana Hanson-Hall 23:27.21
