The men's national XC poll has been slow in coming. Today we have at least the regional polls. Georgetown is in the Middle Atlantic region. The top two from each region automatically proceed to the NCAA championship race. There are other at-large teams too, so if you don't finish in the top two at the Regional meet, you still have a chance based on your record in previous races. That being said, Georgetown is ranked #1 in the MA region. The poll:

I should really check this board more often, thanks for keeping us up to date on all of this Nevada. If it wasn't for you no one would know what is going on with the team.
Great to see us at the top of the Mid-Atlantic Region and ranked 7th overall in the country.

In the 2nd poll of the season Georgetown remains in 7th place. The women have fallen to 26th; must be their worse showing in a national poll in XC in 15-20 years. I think the showing at the Paul Short meet was not indicative of their strength, because of missing a couple of top runners.
The men's poll is as follows:
1 Wisconsin (14) GL 420 1 2 Stanford W 404 2 3 Iona NE 386 3 4 Arkansas SC 384 4 5 Colorado M 343 5 6 Michigan GL 334 6 7 Georgetown MA 333 7 8 North Carolina State SE 313 8 9 BYU M 311 9 10 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo W 282 10 11 Butler GL 271 24 12 Villanova MA 260 13 13 Air Force M 254 11 14 Arizona State W 245 30 15 Indiana GL 231 12 16 Minnesota MW 197 16 17 Providence NE 196 14 18 Central Michigan GL 133 19 19 Miami (Ohio) GL 130 20 20 Colorado State M 119 27 21 Ohio State GL 112 22-tie 22 Oklahoma State MW 107 18 23—tie Georgia S 105 22-tie 23—tie Northern Arizona M 105 15 25 Oregon W 94 21 26—tie Iowa MW 71 28 26—tie Washington W 71 25 28 Florida State S 58 26 29 Montana State M 40 -- 30 Notre Dame GL 32 29 Also receiving votes: Arizona 23, Florida 17, American 15, Virginia 15, Eastern Michigan 14, Texas 14, Duke 10, Cornell 9, Auburn 8, Kansas 8, Portland 6, New Mexico 1, Stephen F. The current poll has the Hoyas (men) still at 7th (but tied with Michigan). However, the women vanished from the polls, not even receiving votes - this must be a first.
The top 10 in the men's poll:

The women are back in the top 25 in the country in the latest XC polls. With a 4th place finish (behind #2 Prov, #6 ND, and #14 Villa) and beating #28 WV, the Hoyas came back into the poll at #24.
