Before the Malmo (Sweden) meet, Jesse ran against a world class field in the Norwich Union meet in England. Jesse was top American, beating an Olympian (beat Derrick Peterson by over 2 seconds) or two. Time for the winning finisher was not that fast, but Jesse was within a 0.1 s of his best.

Jesse is amazingly consistent and a fantastic competitor . Its great that he's getting into a lot of races and having good results.
It seems that he will have to work on his base speed to get to the olympic/worlds(1:44) level as his times are pretty consistent in the 1:46 range.
Everythibg seems to point that he will get there.

That would be great to see some of these European meets live. I think Jesse is following in the footsteps of the great Hoya middle distance guys. I am not too sure if many were better than 1:46 on graduating. It seems as if Jesse has a similar running style to Rich Kenah. Neither one has the great 400m speed that some of the other 800m guys have, but they seem to have a great kick at the end (or slow down the least). I think Jesse can follow Rich's lead and develop into a sub-1:45 runner. I believe Chris Lukezic will be running around 1:46 before he graduates, and his best distance is the 1500/mile.

Speaking of 800m men, it was good to see Dr. Brian McNelis, who was one of the best at Georgetown, get inducted into the GU Hall of Fame. I think Brian's best was around 1:45.xx. It is interesting to see that he now lives in Port Washington, NY, which is one town over from where I grew up and where one of my sisters now lives. Congratulations to Brian. Also, congratulations to Pia Palladino, one of the best GU women runners on her induction.

Treniere Clement ran a PB at the WEltklasse at 800m(2:02:35), strong time for a 1500m runner-she seems to have great range, also great for her to get into the premiere non olympic/wc meet in the world.

Reformation, good find, but where did you find it. I had looked at the Weltklasse results, but all I found for the women was
Weltklasse Zürich - Zürich (SUI)Friday, August 06, 2004
Official Result Women - 800m Pos Athlete Nat Mark 1 Mutola Maria de Lurdes MOZ 1:57.47 2 Miles Clark Jearl USA 1:58.03 3 Cherkasova Svetlana RUS 1:58.34 4 Teter Nicole USA 1:58.81 5 Aït Hammou Amina MAR 1:58.92 6 Lavshuk Natalya RUS 1:59.22 7 Cummins Diane CAN 1:59.22 8 Samaria Agnes NAM 1:59.62 9 Grousselle Elisabeth FRA 1:59.69 10 Brägger Anita SUI 1:59.91 11 Clark Hazel USA 2:03.11 Vashentseva Irina RUS DNF
Treniere's time was faster than the one posted by Hazel Clark, who is one of our three Olympic 800m runners. Too bad Treniere fell at the trials, she might have had a top three finish and the way she is running might have been able to get the A standard. As it is, the winner of the trials has a B standard, so she may the only one to run.
