Good article at USA Today noting how the rules of college baseball are freezing out (pun intended) northern and eastern schools. Since 1984, no northern team has advanced to the College World Series, and no Eastern team has advanced since 1980, when the region was guaranteed one of the eight bids. I think the recruting aspect hurts as much as any. I think that maybe 40 games a year is enough. They can start the season later and won't have to run into the 4th of July on the CWS.
