I am still on the road, but logging in on my son's computer as a guest.
The NCAA Regional Track and Field meet at the Univ of Florida had some interesting results. Treniere Clement won her heat in the prelims AND won the 1500m, scoring 10 points for the Hoyas. Maura McCusker just missed 5th place (the first five go on to the nationals) by 0.11 s in the 800m, but scored 3 pts. Monica Hargrove finished 3rd in her heat and did not make it out of the heats in the 400. Colleen Kelly and Amanda Pape ran in the 1500 and 5000m, respectively, but didn't score.
On the men's side Chris Lukezic and Jesse O'Connell both won their heats in the 1500 and 800m respectively. Tommy Manning just missed making the finals in the 1500m. James Graham ran in the heats of the 400m hurdles, but his lack of training showed up, and he didn't move on. Chris Bonner ran in the 400m heats and did not make the finals. In the finals of the 1500m Chris Lukezic finished 5th, thus making the nationals. The first seven places were determined by 0.51 seconds. Chris beat out Tom Parlapiano of Villanova, winner of the regionals last year, for 5th place.
Ali Najjar also made the finals for the 800m. Since the website announcing the results is down, I don't have the final results. Jesse had the fastest time in the qualifiers in 1:47.74, I believe.

Update on the Regionals. I had to wait two days for the final results of the men's 800m, as I was coming back to Las Vegas from the Palouse and didn't have access to a computer. Well, it was worth the wait as Jesse O'Connell won the 800m in a time of 1:47.39. He had run 1:47.47 in the heats. He probably ran so fast in qualifying to simulate the Olympic Trials, where there will probably be three or four rounds and each one 1:47 or faster. Of course, there may have been a guy, who took the field out fast in his heat. Ali Najjar finished 8th in 1:50.26, after a 1:49.35 in the heats. The men 4x400 relay team won their heat (the slow heat), but ran fast enough to score three points for 6th place in 3:08.77. The team was composed of Chris Bonner, Jesse O'Connell, Ali Najjar, and James Graham. In all the men scored 18 points to tie for ninth with their fellow BE teams UConn and VT (they led the BE contingent).
Over on the women's side Treniere Clement's times for the 1500m were 4:25.52 (heats) and 4:17.64, as she won over the Villanova women by about a second. Colleen Kelly's time for her heat was 4:29.21. Maura McCusker's times were 2:07.71 (heats) and 2:07.27 for 6th. The women's 4x400 team was disqualified. They socred 13 points for 14th place.

I forgot to post that the runner, who was second to Jesse in the 800m final with a time of 1:47.91 was none other than Courtney Jaworski, a freshman at Georgetown last year, who now runs for Penn. I am still wondering why he transferred. Maybe the lack of facilities?

Penn has had other top 800m runners recently,i.e., Sam Burley last yrs NCAA champ--must be some attraction there, maybe someone can clue me in.

You're right about Burley. I wonder who the coach is.
Some comments from Jesse on the 800m victory:
Men's 800m
Jesse O'Connell, Georgetown, Champion
"The east has been a phenomenally strong region in this particular event. I have been running against a lot of these guys all year. They are very talented and they all had a chance to win. I just wanted to stick my nose it in early and run hard home like I knew I was able to. I was just hoping to pick up a little momentum going into the NCAA meet. I PR'ed by a little bit, but I am still looking for that big break through."
I see Jesse going down to 1:46 at least at the NCAAs or the trials.
