As per "The Hoya" www.thehoya.com/news/052104/news2.cfmTwo Georgetown students have been charged with destruction of property and second-degree burglary for vandalizing Healy Hall in the early morning hours of May 17. Two students entered Healy and damaged parts of Gaston Hall and the second, third and fourth floors, according to a report from the Department of Public Safety. Matthew DeBole (NHS ’07) and Daniel Tebbano (MSB ’04) were arrested Monday by the Metropolitan Police Department, charged and later released. A DPS officer reported hearing shattering glass coming from the direction of Healy at 4 a.m. Monday morning. Once he approached the building, he saw one of the students “kicking out” the fourth floor window of Gaston Hall, according to DPS Director Darryl Harrison. After yelling for the student to stop, the officer saw a second individual standing by the first one and immediately radioed for assistance. The two students were then apprehended on the side of the building. According to the report, an inspection of Healy revealed “extensive vandalism” as a result of water damage on the second through fourth floors caused by destruction in the restrooms and damage to a water fountain. There were also broken stained-glass windows found in Gaston Hall. DeBole and Tebbano could not be reached for comment. Obviously Tebbano just graduated, but what is the status of Debole? We he be able to return th the Hilltop next year? If not, it would be a huge loss for the team as he was clearly the #1 freshman on the team.

OMG, that is terrible news. What possessed them to do that? Was school still in session? This is a black mark on the track program.

I agree that is would be a great loss for the team, if Debole is canned. I think the least they could do would be to put him on probation, if all the facts are true. He was a great recruit running wise. We'll have to see how this plays out.

there were some discipline problems on the track team 20+ years ago which were cleaned up successfully, hopefully they are not returning

School is not in session. All graduations and related ceremonies were May 21-23 (as far as I know). More likely that these two were on campus/in the area for summer training.
GO HOYAS!!!

I'd guess that a lot of the track team (anyone who was running at regionals, or is taking summer school courses) is around most of the year. But this actually happened during senior week, when most students had gone home, but there were still a bunch of people on campus, not least among them, about 1,600 seniors.

WOW, that is horrible stuff. I never heard about this but I read in another thread that DeBole had been kicked off the team.
I definitely agree that he deserves any punishment he received. That kind of behavior is a complete disgrace to the university and an indicator of a horrible personality. How could someone in their right mind vandalize a building that is so symbolic of their university and has so much history.
I know people do sick things like this more often than you would like to believe, but it is extremely painful and difficult for me to understand.
