The Big East meet is being held at Rutgers this weekend. The Hoyas hopes have suffered a setback as neither Rob Koborsi (5000 and 10,000m) and James Graham (400H, 400m) are entered in their events, which leads me to believe that they are injured. We do not have any entries in the Pole vault, so Andrew Haskell must be injured (or did not make the qualifying height) and Danny Pellegrino is MIA (I haven't seen his name at all this year, so either he is redshirting or he didn't return). More news later.

GU men are tied for 4th with 18 points after the first full day of competition, and the women also have 18 points, but they are in 8th place. I don't have the individual results except for Fleet Hower, sophomore, who won the 10,000m race in a time of 30:43.59.

400mH 5. Nat Glackin 54.01

I believe that was five first place finishes for the men. Just didn't have the depth. They scored one point in the field events.

Couple of thoughts on results
1)I think that winning premier events like the 4X800 at Penn and fielding 5-10 nationally competitive runners is more impt than winning the overall BE title--I'd rather send a few runners to the world's olympics etc.
2)In the best of all worlds we'd like to have both a talented and deep team.
3)Hopefully we'll be able to maintain both the talent and depth after this year(seems like graduation will take a heavy toll?)
4)Its hard to tell from an outsiders perspective what the real outlook is because of limited info

It seems as if we are more positioned to maintain our excellence in XC right now than stocking up on our 800m runners. Three terrific 800m runners graduate this year in Jesse, Ali, and Ezra. Who do we have left? Chris Lukezic, Nat Glackin (who has been running the 400m H this year), and maybe Matt Debole. One or two of the incoming freshmen might be able to run a decent 800m, but probably not next year.
The regionals (qualifiers for NCAAs) are coming up in three and a half weeks. With one or two meets left this weekend and next, we only have three qualifiers for the Regionals on the men side, plus the 4x400m relay (no 4x8 in the regionals). The three qualifiers are Jesse, Chris, and James Graham, who is probably injured. In the weekend meets we will probably see Chris going for a qualifier in the 1500m and Ali in the 800m. I think Chris Bonner had a qualifier in the 400m (47.09) at the prelims at BE this weekend, but it was not yet listed.

I think it's been a very successful couple of weeks for the track program.
It wasn't too long ago that we were winning the BE, winning at Penn, and sending runners to the Olympic Trials, etc.
Right now, we just don't have the facilities to compete for the team title, the coaches, men and women are doing a great job making the most of what they have...it isn't easy.
As for the heavy toll that graduation will take, I think we'll be fine, we will definitely "re-load", the coaching staff is smart and have an unmatched record at developing consistent middle distance-distance talent to compete at the highest levels.
