A bit confusing keeping track (no pun intended) of the Hoyas this weekend, as they entered three meets across the country with the Stanford Invitational for the distance runners, the Florida Relays for mostly the relays and the Raleigh Relays for some field events.
At the Raleigh Relays, in which the Hoyas showed up for a token appearance in the long and triple jumps. Teddy Presley was 20th (of 39) in the TJ with a 44'4.25" mark, while Jesse Patterson was 29th (of 69) in the LJ with a 21'8.25" mark. Leilani Greene cleared 3.45 (11'3.75") in the pole vault. Senior Rose Wetzel ran 4:37.75 in the 1,500m for 28th place in the 62-runner field.
Down in Florida Monica Hargrove finished 6th (of 47) in the 400m with a 54.35 mark. In the 800m Sabine Knothe ran 6th of 38 (2:11.45), Nana Hanson-Hall was 9th (2:12.33), and Kelley Otstott was 12 (2:12.92). In the men's 400 Chris Bonner was 14th (of 41) in 48.14 and Ezra Richards came in 24th in 49.06. James Graham was 10th of 31 in the 400m hurdles in 53.14. In the 800 Ali Najjar is back and was 2nd of 31 in 1:51.98.
Georgetown really showed its true colors in the relays. The women dominated the relay field, winning three and scoring a 2nd in one. The three winning relays were the 4x800, 4x1500, and 1600 sprint medley relay, while they picked up a 2nd in the DMR (ran out of bodies). The specifics: 4x800: Treniere Clement, Sabine Knothe, Maura McCusker, and Megan O'Neil in 8:49.83 (U of Florida was 2nd two seconds back); 4x1500: Maura McCusker, Kelley Otstott, Megan O'Neil, and Elizabeth Maloy in 18:57.82 (won this race by 23 seconds); 1600 Sprint Medley Relay: Kandance Ferguson, Nichole Torpey, Monica Hargrove, and Treniere Clement in 3:50.58 with Florida about 2.5 s back. The DMR had Nana Hanson-Hall, Elizabeth Maloy, Kelley Otstott, and Kandance Ferguson in 11:41.34 with San Diego State in first.
The men won two and came in 3rd in one. The 4x1500 team of Matt Debole, Nat Glackin, Tommy Manning, and Jesse O'Connell ran 15:40.29 for first. The 1600 Sprint Medley Relay was also first in 3:21.72 with Chris Bonner, James Graham, Ali Najjar, and Jesse O'Connell. The 4x800 team of Ali Najjar, Jesse O'Connell, Ezra Richards, and James Graham finished 3rd in 7:28.73.
I did not see Chris Lukezic's name, so maybe he is redshirting this outdoor track. He has been working hard through one and a half years of XC and outdoor and indoor track. He might want to give the Olympic trials in the 1500m a try, so he might want to start a little slowly.
