to remember Evel Knievel. He passed away today. May he rest in peace. I was a big fan when I was younger, and I wanted to be a stuntman, that is until I realized I could get hurt doing so.

I had the wind-up Evel Kneivel motorcycle. The one that you would put on a little ramp, turn the crank to wind it up and then let it fly....
....yeah, that friggin' thing never worked!
RIP. How you lived as long as you did, I'll never know.

I'm not old enough, but for us younger folks, Evel Knievel still lives on YouTube. This is how you end up in a 29 day coma, kids.
One of the crazy things about this clip is how the Vegas strip looked in 1967 compared to how it looks 40 years later.

Evel was one of a kind. Interestingly, on his show yesterday, Rome replayed an excerpt from an interview he did with Evel a few years ago. He asked Evel what he thought his survival chances were for his Grand Canyon jump, and Evel said 50/50. Rome then asked him, in that case, why he would do it. Evel's reply:
"Do you know who the hell I am?"

What happened to his kid? Robbie Knievel is a professional daredevil as well, and sucessfully completed the Caesars Palace jump that nearly killed his father. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbie_KnievelThose ABC prime time specials with Evel were ratings gold. He was reality TV before there was such a term.
