Not sure what to make of this one: thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/08/27/senator-accused-of-lewd-conduct/Seems to be quite a lot of investigation into the "normal" course of dealings in these bathroom stall meetings. As an aside, when searching google for information on dinner cruises in DC, you should put in more than just "Potomac" and "cruising" - unless you want get some interesting links along the lines of the story above.

At least this one wasn't soliciting high school boys. Wasn't Brokeback Mountain filmed near Idaho? I'm sure Senator Craig could have taken a few "fishing trips" with a "friend" if he wanted to... that would have avoided the whole lewd conduct in public thing. Well... innocent until proven guilty right? Oh wait... he plead guilty. Damn... then I guess we should give him the benefit of the doubt?

I know what you're thinking but Sen. Craig just wanted to perform a cavity search make sure the agent wasn't bringing any explosives onto a flight - he should be commended for his behavior.

In a way, this is old news...Craig has been defending himself from these "rumors" since the early 80's. True or untrue (I tend to think of smoke accompanying fire...) the undercurrent of hypocrisy between Craig's (...alleged) behavior, Rep Mark Foley, Colorado evangelist Ted Haggard, etc. etc. can and will be seen at the polls.

I'm sure you mean the GOP will get most of the gay vote. Right?

Of course, gay-bashing gay politicians have always been held in high regard in the gay community.

My question - when will he resign?
Before the end of the day (Tue)
Before the end of the week (Fri)
Within the next week (Before next Tue)
Within the next month (Sept)
Before the end of the year (2007)
Never, but no Reelection
Reelection

As more information trickles in about the similar incident in Union Station, the pressure will increase. It could be within the next week if one of those pages from 1982 comes out of the shadows and reveals details about a sexual encounter with Senator Craig.

He wasn't attempting any lewd act. He was simply asking the gentlemen in the stall for any spare change so he could get the newspaper before his flight. You know, tap his foot, reach under the stall. "Hey man, got any change?" This is all just a misunderstanding.

Craig has categorically denied he is gay and has not ever engaged in homosexual activity.

just watched the press conference - he gave himself an out... as of now it seems he plans to announce he is not running again next month, but things could change.

Of course, gay-bashing gay politicians have always been held in high regard in the gay community. Why do you feel free to call someone who probably disagrees with you on the subject of gay marriage and "gay rights" a gay-basher? Why can't you recognize that some people think some things like gay marriages are either a violation of centuries-old traditions or detrimental to the best interests of society? This is a typical method used by "progressives" on many issues. If someone opposes "amnesty" (by whatever name) for illegal immigrants, they are labeled immigrant-bashers, etc.

Here's the story I find interesting: how did the bloggers, the print media, and 24 hour news miss this? www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003632075BTW, if Craig is gay (and I have a hard time believing that persistent rumors + this arrest = totally not interested in dudes), then those who should be most outraged are his fellow homosexuals. Not because of his staying in the closet while putting an R next to his name, but for his sating his sexual appetite by "cruising" for dudes. That is exactly the type of behavior that has caused not only the religious right but moderate Americans to slap the "irresponsible/pervert" label on the gay community. There are plenty of committed gay couples out there, but they won't be in the headlines anytime soon.

Craig has categorically denied he is gay and has not ever engaged in homosexual activity. That's right easyed... he plead guilty because he forgot to seek the advice of council, right? Oh.. and I'm sure the Union Station bathroom allegation which was reported BEFORE this arrest was just a coincidence. Must be some flaming liberal spouting out non-truths... oh wait.. I forgot.. the person that made the Union Station allegation was a Republican. Well... the media is just blowing this out of proportion... ON EDIT: By the way, I love how Senator Craig is accusing an Idaho paper of being on a "witch hunt." I would like to point out to the Senator that the Idaho paper has not engaged in any hunting- Roll Call Newspaper plopped the "witch" right into their laps with the arrest record. The other allegations have come in the form of people coming forward, not because the newspaper has some vendetta against the Senator.

Craig has categorically denied he is gay and has not ever engaged in homosexual activity. So too: Rep. Mark Foley and Pastor Ted Haggard. But, hey, the Senator is married, so he can't be gay.

Well, they did pretty much miss the Chairmen of the House Veterans Committee assaulting a Dulles baggage handler.

Craig has categorically denied he is gay and has not ever engaged in homosexual activity. And since he categorically stated that he admitted to something that was false when under oath and pleading guilty, he freely admitted that he commited perjury. Just because he says he's not gay doesn't mean that its true, this is what's called "the closet."
