Answer to your questions: 1. perhaps 2. i disagree with you on principal, ever since you staged a coup and overthrew Joe Hoya as lord of Editedtown. And my s**t doesn't stink, it smells like bakery fresh cinnamon rolls. You take yourself waaaay to seriously, as do a bunch of people on this board. An example of what is annoying...a new poster like Voltahoya gets on here and talks about what students should do to get III a new contract. Dumb enough, but then proceeds to post over and over in the same thread. Asking Hoya Blue to get on it...the seniors of Hoya Blue have done enough and should be enjoying there last few months of undergrad life, drinking too much, getting some ass, and then convincing themselves that said ass was not brutally fat. Another thing - the facilities, we get it. Why don't you just Motorola yourself on what you think needs to get done... Thank you though from taking time out of your all important conference to post a message. In the words of the immortal Dirk Diggler, "Hello, exactly!!" Welcome to America. Home of free speech.

I am sad I missed the early days of this board, happy to be here now. Can someone from the earlier days tell me how the board handled volatile topics like Anthony Perry's NBA drapft prospects, how on earth to lock up Esherick to keep him from fleeing to a better program, and how OT's would it take to beat Notre Dame if Kevin Braswell took nothing but half court shots? You jest, but as I read your list of topics I could literally check them off in mind. They all happened at some time, well, perhaps not as exteme as you suggest, but there were virtual fisticuffs over Anthony Perry, Esherick and Braswell. I assure you it was just as surreal and hilarious as you imagine. Personally, I miss the 14 page threads with MCI waxing lyrical about all things Boumtje and proclaiming Wilson the greatest potential center of all time. Talk about speculation. Talk about going out on a limb. Needless to say, those threads were fierce and retarded...but highly entertaining. Obviously in those dark times, none of us could really take ourselves seriously. I guess Buff's point is we are in our salad days, we have gotten lazy. We have spent far too much time cheering on the team and not nearly enough time making unfounded assertions, bold speculation and engaging in biting, snide hatchet jobs on our opponents and friends. I miss those days. We have digressed to the point of "Is JTIII a great coach or the greatest coach?" Yawn. I for one am with Buff. On a side note, Buff, I ran into Ms. Buff the other morning. Actually, that's inaccurate. It's more like she ran into me. I was driving through town and stopped at an intersection. Anyways, she must have caught wind of me. (I know I know, I should have been downwind - My bad) My insurance company has sent you an estimate, I expect a speedy response.

Does this mean we as posters have been drinking too many proverbial milkshakes?
Also, everyone who mentions free speech on a message board should be headbutted.

Absolutely not, in fact, it is a severe lack of milkshakes that has caused all this hatefull batle of words. Good thing Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are probably free right now, lets call him them and resolve our differences the civil way; With MILKSHAKES

How do you pronounce lichoya?
Phonetically, is it more like lich (rhymes with switch)-oya, or more like lic (rhymes with sick)-hoya? Or, I suppose within the realm of possibility is lic (rhymes with miss)-hoya.
Thanks in advance.
And R.I.P. Kurt.

Might it have different meanings if pronounced different ways?

Depends on your perspective. The old days were fun--in a misery loves company sort of way. There was nothing like coming onto the boards after Pops/Esh gooned up another game and just venting-then winning a few games and hearing we're involved with some recruits--only to be let down when those kids had zero interest due to INSERT REASON HERE. Pops days were frustrating due to his wishy-washy attitude towards recruiting and knowing he was capable of having this program be what it once was and is under his son. Esh--that man stirred it up on this site--and to be honest, I blame his appearance on CSTV the week of Final Four for the loss, possible loss of Roy/Jeff, the board having issues, you name it--I blame Esherick. That name/word alone translates to "SOUR MILKSHAKE" in the native language of this site--Hoyaish. Well at the least the language I speak on this site. As for the attitude/arrogance issue Buff brought up, depends on how you look at it. As someone who contributes to this site and has over years--it's great when others come on here and bring up differing opinions--and just like the old days when they bring something they know ZERO about and make comments like Brooks Berringer--my vote for Esherick's secret name on this site--it's going to get bashed. He attacks other posters, his posts are misinformed and show he doesn't know a thing about sports--let alone NBA or CBB, and he got the same treatment he would've in "The Great Depression" era. Buff brings up how "many have expressed how this site has jumped the shark"--well I can add that many I know on this site have also discussed why someone who talks about the Florida Gators at ALL TIMES is allowed to ruin this site with his jibberish time and time again. For every Hifi post that is quality--there are 100 that are pure garbage. A guy that has banned from Rivals/Scout sites from posting is allowed free reign over here and we get to hear about the attitude of fellow Hoya fans? I take issue with that. Tell you what, I propose we all pick out another team we like--and post about it every minute/second, start threads and reply to our own threads 3/4 times to bump it to the top, and then wonder why nobody cares? MILKSHAKES AND SANDWICHES FOR EVERYONE that does this. Yippee! If you want it like the old board--be prepared for another mockumentary movie on Esherick--I can drum up some rough drafts freestyle--and attacks on the Bonecrusher Blake, Pops greedy ways which ruined the program, the essence of why Daymond Jackson and Jameel Watkins missed approximately 3/4 of their layup/dunk attempts, the overhyping of Joey Brown as a player--was he scrappy? Yes--was it worth blowing a shot at Kenny Anderson? You decide. I love this board/site--always will. I appreciate what Buff is saying but I think many Hoya fans are down that season is over (I know I am) and when you try to bring up basketball issues--specifically about NBA Draft/NBA Basketball and 90% of the site talks of their hatred of the NBA or fact they don't watch it and then talk about why someone should "leave" or who makes a good pro--it's going to get those who do follow/enjoy it a bit frustrated. Being a newbie/old timer doesnt' matter it's what you bring to table. I mean this site probably attracted someone who loves Bananas and didn't even know it's a Hoya related site a few weeks ago. I'll take the "downside of the board" if it means Hoyas are winning and a bunch of bandwagon people come on, I don't know if I would recover from another Pops--the End or Esherick years--it would drive me to deep depression--which leads to comedy-but only as therapy to avoid the misery the man created. For all things Hoya--Esh's last year prompted me to threaten showing up at BET courtside with a monacle, fake moustache, top hat, cane, and do the MR. Peanut dance everytime he did "Fist/Double Fist"--this year we WON THE BET--I'll take the winning.

BTW, I don't think everything is all ok with the program now... about to lose our 2 best players, coach unsigned... true we had a good season, but does anyone really feel complacent about it? I just think you have a ton of people on the Board now, not a bad thing. I hope they continue to be active fans. Quality of the convo depends on the topic. Plenty of room on the Hoyas bandwagon for more.

Well played, 'bridge, well played. Ironically enough, I saw your twin sis at a dinner party last week when I was back in Boston. I know you don't get to see her that often so I decided to snap off a pic of her. I thought perhaps the sight of a loved one would help you through these difficult times. And isn't she the one you had that "Les Cousins Dangereux" moment with? EDIT: Fixed the link.

I always thought it was pronounced "lice"hoya. I've been mispronouncing his name for years! I've been making an idiot of myself.

Plenty of room on the Hoyas bandwagon for more. Is "bandwagon" pejorative? I ask because on the Chargers board, where I am equally as quasi-active, it is a favorite "j'accuse!" to be leveled at posters. If it's a zing, I question why. Bandwagoning (bandwagoneering, bandwagonosticating) is a natural condition when something gets good, interesting, fun, or popular. We are all, or once became, bandwagonites of one or more of the following, are we not?: American Idol, beer, R.E.M., the internet, sea-bass, xenon headlights, hip hop, miso-glazed anything, game consoles, and Georgetown basketball. In specific response, my $.02 is that I agree: there are many things to discuss about the program right now; it is in flux; and that posting about such topics is fun, appropriate, and interesting to read about. Thanks.

In this vein, JT mentioned on his radio show this afternoon in the course of introducing his guest, Leonsis, that Coach was losing all 3 of his assistant coaches...

Brooks Berringer--my vote for Esherick's secret name on this site-- 'Dabney Coleman,' for unoriginal and obvious reasons. I might also be tempted to vote for 'Greg Davis.' I propose we keep this moving.

This board will never jump the shark, as long as there is excellent recuiting info like this. Credit to Buff for finding the site I will waste my afternoon on.
