Hoyas are making progress. The first half was embarrassing but we won the second half. The lack of rebounding-most specifically those of the offensive variety-killed us in the first half along with poor shooting. We could not get anything down. Hibbert was unfortunate in his attempts. BUT, the guy shows effort and continuing improvement. The missed slam was a flattener but he IS a freshman. And a tall one at that.
He intimidated Boone. Boone needs to develop a shot-he is not an NBA center but he is playing a college post. Needs to improve. JG outplayed Rudy Gay.
Will DO return next year? Big question-can he get or will JT III want to appeal for year 5 or 6?
Calhoun-Complete jerk. Was worth 4-8 points, though. His team was not a well coached group-JT III was thoughtful in making them play half court. They only prevailed on sheer physical talent. Was not impressed. I would have whistled Calhoun early. The refs completely patronized the jerk. UConn got the same calls where we got swallowed whistles. He was all over them from the start. His team did not look coached but I guess he has status with refs. He intimidated them completely.
Villanueva is an incredible talent. The guy from Canada killed us-again, he and Villanueva did it on physical ability-once in half court, UConn was surprisingy unable to function. Keep them out of a quick or running game and they will have a problem.
GU is getting better with each game. The first half was marked with a departure from the offense. Once they got in it and began to cut and pass, the Hoyas did well.
