In an attempt to keep things lite around here, I invite you all to join in on a debate my old roommate and I had a week or so ago. Its an important debate, as it defines so many of our adolescent years. If you think about it, each girl has her own unique qualities:
'Boof' - Although a bit homey, you know Boof is always going to be there for you, even when you grow a little hair and start dating your school's resident skank.
Ali - Even though she's an uptown girl, Ali ain't afraid to throw down in defense of her man. Whether its talking some trash to the local bullies or standing up to her old man, she's got your back.
Lorraine - While very traditional, Lorraine has that sort of throwback sex appeal. Inside that proper exterior burns flames of passion.
Sloane - If you've got money, are super popular, or are generally a Man of Action, Sloane is for you. Average Joe's need not apply (although look out... she's only in high school but already thinking marriage).
Claire - Totally repressed, Claire is a ticking time-bomb ready to explode in a rage of passion. If you can put up with her prissy, me-me-me attitude, you may reap the benefits.
Andi - The all-American girl next door, Andi comes across as very kind and gentle, outgoing and friendly. But without a doubt, she's the kind of girl who - when in a serious relationship - breaks out the whips and chains and goes to town ("Don't I have a beautiful body?!?!")
Lisa - What is there to say about Lisa? Tell her what to do, and she'll do it. She's not real, for chrissakes! Party on.
Other - Other's receiving consideration were 'Charlie' Blackwood ("Top Gun"), Samantha Baker ("Sixteen Candles"), Dayna Thomas ("Campus Man"), and Jane Toussaint ("School Daze").
I'm going to try and come out with a "Best 80's Movie _____" every week or so... just to keep us from going nuts yapping about facilities, Esh, trolls, recruits, etc.

I went with Sloane over Andi, but I was wondering if Pheobe Cates was excluded merely for not actually being anyone's girlfriend or did you just run out of space?

I hate you, Buffalo.
(but, God, did I think Boof was a hottie!)
And how could you leave out Jennifer Connelly in Some Girls, huh? Unforgivable.
(yes, she was much better in Career Opportunities, but that was in the 90s)

Has anyone seen "My date with Drew"? It's an indie "documentary" about a guy trying to get a date with Drew Barrymore. Mildly amusing, but there is this fantastic scene where the guy gets an interview with Corey Feldman, because Corey Feldman will do anything these days.
He starts it off doing Corey's "this was my wish" speech from the well in Goonies. Priceless.

You got it... not really a girlfriend, just a whore (of course, "Lisa" was, too). I hate you, Buffalo. (but, God, did I think Boof was a hottie!) And how could you leave out Jennifer Connelly in Some Girls, huh? Unforgivable. (yes, she was much better in Career Opportunities, but that was in the 90s) I left her out for the SOLE PURPOSE of Editeding you off, Boz. I swear on it. I know your affinity for her, but I figured I'd needle you a bit.

Does Hollywood from Mannequin count? Not ready to commit my vote yet but I was, um, curious.

I voted for Soloane but as a child of the 90's I would put up tapenga (before she got fat) and kelly kapowski up against all of them.

To me, the vote has to come down to Ali and Andi. Lisa is straight out because, as mentioned, she is not real. The other girls only dated guys who were much cooler than me. Which leaves Ali and Andi as the only ones who might be attainable, even in a purely fictional universe. And of those two, Ali is hotter, plain and simple.

Why, I had to vote for Claire - because I would be outstanding as a way to tick her old man off - maybe he would get me a Porsche to buy me off!

Just as an interesting note,
Two of the women being talked about in this thread
Mia Sara AKA Sloane Peterson
and Jennifer Connelly
both attended my high school St. Anns in Brooklyn Heights,
Unfortunately for me, I went to high school about 10 years too late to have hit on either of the two hotties

I voted other.
Other being Sherilyn Fenn as the nympho Sandy in Just One of the Guys, in which she tirelessly tried to seduce Terry, the girl "disguised" as the guy with the nice rack before eventually settling for her brother. Smoking hot, dumb, slutty, into chicks, what more could one hypothetically want from an 80's movie high school girlfriend.
Some would argue that Billy Zabka stole the show as Sandy's boyfriend playing basically the same villain character he did in The Karate Kid, but for me, it was, and always will be, Sandy.

The Tapanga love mystifies me.
And while I had my Kelly Kapowski moments, she was what we called in high school a "Calle Thompson." Calle was gorgeous freshman year, but by senior year she was merely pretty, having been passed up by about thirty or forty girls.
'Course, Kelly rectified that by having a bit o' work done.

Mia Sara AKA Sloane Peterson and Jennifer Connelly both attended my high school St. Anns i never thought i would see the day when there would be a post from another Steamer on the Hoyatalk board. And when did Mia Sara go to Stan's School? I dont remember ever hearing that before, of course jennifer connelly was well known in St Anns as well as BFS & the "school" that shall remain nameless on Joralemon. I graduated St Ann's in '92, first hoya in a long time if not school history so i know you are younger than me.

I was looking for Elizabeth Shue's name wondering how could anyone forget her in KK. Then I noticed you were going bu the name of the characters. Anyone "Ali" gets my vote with Mia Sara from Ferris coming in a close second.
