Scary, but not at all surprising... There was a very interesting piece in the Post's outlook section Sunday that discussed the effects of outsourcing. I thought it was a pretty balanced piece, looking at how outsourcing naturally creates an immediate job loss in the capital intensive country (US). Usually, that job loss is mitigated by US workers getting further education or training, and entering jobs requiring higher skill levels. In the case of this cycle, however, many of the jobs-- radiology, software programming -- being offshored are high skill jobs, and there is a resulting unemployment bubble among educated people... which as of yet has not been met by new high-skilled jobs coming onto the market. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A35469-2004Mar6.html

i'm sure many of you have already seen this, but it's really a striking look at the gross overpredictions re: job creation consistently eminating from this admin. I was just about to post the exact same thing myself. Got to love the Big Lie approach to the economy. With the way things are going these days, I expect to see the Administration trot out the Amazing Kreskin for a little national hypnosis...
