Since the UN and the NGO's always condemn the apartheid and racist state of affairs in Israel, do think they can find the time to condemn this? It seems the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has decided to issue tourist visas. But there a few categories of people who won't get them: "Visas will not be issued for the following groups of people: ... Jewish People." For some reason, I'm not holding my breath. At least they used capital letters and didn't refer to apes and monkeys like they usually do. www.sauditourism.gov.sa/sct/indexlist.php?catid=39&maincat=Travel_Tips

That is absolutely despicable. What a bunch of backwards-ass apes. I forwarded that link to everyone I know, asking them to do the same if the overt racism and sexism of that "kingdom" offended them.

I'm certain that the reason why the Saudi kingdom will not issue visas to "Jewish People" is that they would fear for their safety. See, they are really just looking out for my interest! I'm so touched, I'm ready to fly there right now.

that probably is the official explanation. the US govt should refuse to sell them another F16 until they can dedicate some resources to this "problem" that clearly they have done everything possible to mitigate. You know what the sad thing is...this expression of anti-Semtism and sexism is the most democratic thing about Saudia Arabia. That is not a regime problem- it is a national one. What is the excuse for demanding that women be chapperoned? That Saudi men can't help themselves from raping women who are un-accompanied?

I usually try to stay out of commenting on this board, but this did catch my eye. I recently spent a month in Morocco, which, shall we say is more "liberal and democratic" than the KSA. Even then, I was completely blown away by everything I saw. Like stepping back in time (and I've been to Haiti as well) I quote thebin because I think it (meaning chaperoning and other issues like it) is a civilizational issue. We find it extremely difficult to comprehend them and they find it extremely difficult to comprehend us. Why? The basises (sp? plural of basis) of our societies/civilizations are completely different and thus their manifestations are radically different. For those who have read Sam Huffington you are hearing a familiar tune. The exclusion of Jews is abhorent and disturbing.

I think Huntington was more of a prophet than I am comfortable admitting. Disturbing indeed, but I do think the Clash of Civilzations is inevitible in one form or another. I also think that an event far worse than 9/11 will be necessary before the forces of liberalism (in the European sense of that word that I embrace as my own) will see it as such- which means I expect us to lose the first round badly.

I think the French and Germans are starting to realize this. They have very difficult decisions ahead of them in regards to liberalism vs. the tide of muslim immigration (and eastern european for that matter).
We think we have it difficult here with illegal immigration. I would not want to be in France's shoes. They are/will be at the forefront of the clash of civilizations and I'm not certain they know what they're doing. We've had to deal with immigration for the entire history of our contient, they've had to deal with it, en masse, for what? 30yrs, maybe? The maelstrom has got them running scared
The head scarf thing is a symptom of the larger malaise. (BTW, I think they picked the wrong battle on that one and drew the line incorrectly - we cannot give up what defines our civilization in order to win the "battle".) I'm rambling now....
