I though CYE started off kind of slowly this year. Maybe it was a case of reality not meeting expectations.
However, I think the show has hit its stride. The last episode with the HOV lanes, the Dad smoking pot, the jury voir dire, the pot bus at the airport and the weatherman golf tip was hilarious. ;D

Big Seinfeld fan, never seen "Curb". I don't subscribe to HBO and it's not worth $12.95 a month for just one show.

I certainly think its worth what I pay for HBO for Curb, Sopranos, Inside the NFL, and Bill Maher's Real Time which are four of my favorite shows plus some pretty decent boxing cards. HBO does great sports documentaries, Real Sports is OK even though I dislike Gumbel and they have a decent selection of movies. HBO is making the best programming on television right now with a few exceptions.
Anyone else watching Dennis Miller on CNBC? Its coming along I think.

I haven't caught Dennis Miller yet. I think he's hilarious. I'll have to TiVo it.
I also agree that HBO is worth the 12 bucks a month for CYE, Sporanors, Inside the NFL and Real Sports. Plus you get stuff like the documentary on the First Super Bowl (go Chiefs!). And there are some movies worth watching.

yeah- the first SB doc was great. Pete Rozzelle might have been the most inflential man in American sports in the 20 century. He put the NFl on the world wide map by force of will. HBO also did the incomprable "Do you believe in Miracles," which you can also buy on DVD. It is better than the movie by far- and the movie was good. Its mandatory "post-drinking viewing while scalding your mouth with hot pizze at 4 in the morning on Saturday nights" in my house. Brings out tears every time.

I don't know if it would have the same effect on me since I was 3 at the time. But who knows, maybe.
I was going to to see Miracle last weekend, but then my wife got me TiVo and I had to play with that.

I was 4. Its really good- and there is alcohol involved when that happens. But actually, it is a common occurence when people watch this doc.

People today might find it hard to believe, but the game was not televised live. It was played at about 4:00 Eastern time on a Friday afternoon and the word nonetheless got out on the CBS and NBC newscasts (no CNN in 1980), perhaps trying to beat ABC to the punch. ABC showed it later that night, and Jim McKay's grin practically gave it away.
They moved the Sunday finals vs. Sweden into the live broadcasts that Sunday afternoon, with the medal ceremony to follow.

In the documentary they explain that there was talk about moving the game to the prime time slot and going live but the Soviets, as was their right, refused. I think McCay said something like "you are gonna want to stick around for this one" as a drunken mob of American fans cheered behind him just before the tape aired.
