as in "independent" from reality. This is the most asinine example of anti-American Turret's Syndrome I have EVER seen. By the way, amazingly, this little nugget is not an op ed- it is from the Sports page- this is their coverage of a sporting event that hundreds of millions watched worldwide. sport.independent.co.uk/general/story.jsp?story=486887

what tripe. although seemingly less "anti-american" than simply bearing no connection to reality. the super bowl's relevance minimized by the kobe trial? please.

I think its the sign of a rabid anti-American to be so detached from reality as to paint a negative story about American sports celebrities like Kobe Bryant when your newspaper has flown you to Houston to cover a football game- that is also the most watched single sporting event in the world 3 out of every 4 years. It is also a fabrication- I didn't once hear about Kobe Bryant all weekend. Overshadowed? The whole thing is such a ridiculous non-sequitor that it stinks of prejudice and agenda. What the hell did he have to go to Houston for? He had no intent of covering the game! The jerk didn't even mention the score, the teams playing or who won- but made some random unfounded charge that most Americans cared more about the half-time show than the game. What position is this idiot to make that condescending charge at 300 million people when he didn't even mention who won the game! My guess is that plan A was to write about how boring the game was and how dreadful it is to have to endure such an American event in person- but when the game turned out to be extremely exciting, he decided to forget the result of the game and talk about Kobe and OJ.

im sure its been discussed already, but how eerily similar was the end of this game to the rams-pats game a few years back--even down to the kicker inexcusably giving the pats the ball at the 40 for the final drive after a proehl TD.

It was uncanny in simularity. Especially for me. I am a Pats fan who lives in NYC- and two of my Gtown friends who are also Pats fans live in DC and Boston respectively. Watched Brady march and Vinateri kick a 40 something yarder to win it indoors in the same region of the country with one on my land line phone in my right ear and the other on my cell in my left- all of us screaming our heads off- EXACTLY like 2 years ago. I was very cognizant to remember who was in my right ear two years ago and kept everything the same.

as a die hard rams fan, i couldnt bring myself to root for the patriots--but i must admit that they (especially brady) have earned my complete, if begrudging, respect. regardless, i'll go to my grave believing that martz lost SB XXXVII more than the pats won it.
