So now I know a little more about the situation thanks to a discrete PM - however, it still doesn't make sense and probably never will. Anyways, I can understand the reason DOPS didn't put out an e-mail. Usually those things are 5 sentences or less and the last one has to be "DPS canvassed the area with negative results." Even the one about a student getting shot in the butt was 5 (in retrospect since she wasn't permanently hurt) gloriously hilarious sentences long. There is simply no way that this could fit this into 5 sentences - I can't wait for the Hoya's Web "Exclusive" on the story.

There was, in fact, someone hanging around while this was all going down taking down some names, facts, etc. I asked him who we wrote/worked for, he said no one. I assumed he was lying and really writes for The Hoya, but who knows.

To be honest, I'm still a bit bothered by the fact that no one has officially or unofficially addressed this. Obviously, I totally respect people on the board for not sharing gossip or anything of that nature.
But I think it's a terrible sign that Georgetown students and alums are so used to the University's closed-mouth approach to things that we just brush it off when NO ONE explains why there was a SWAT TEAM on campus.
More recent speculation has it that the "threat" (if it ever was a threat) has left the area, but seriously: to have that kind of activity on campus and then pretend it never happened is really a slap in the face to the entire G-town community. Do they think no one noticed, doesn't care, or or that there's no obligation to give reports on something like that?

from what i've heard. There really was no serious threat, and that the swat teams presence was pretty much just a big over compensation. So i don' t think there's any need for anyone to worry. and i think this is why there hasn't been an email about it. There was no need for a swat team there in my understanding.
