This sounds like good news. I hope Georgetown can work a capital campaign donation out of ARAMARK. I was always disappointed that Mariott didn't give a more significant gift in the last campaign. In any event, the competition shouldn't hurt. (BTW: I would not call Epicurean and Co. upscale.)

i think just as significant as ARAMARK replacing Marriott at Leo's is the Darnall cafeteria finally reopening and the meal plan being extended to, at least, Hoya Court in Leavey and Epicurean and Co. in Darnall. now i wonder what else "multiple campus dining venues" might include in terms of the meal plan? vittles?
in any event, very welcome changes, at least it seems so right now. let's hope it all works out come the fall.

Aramark sucks too although they did bring in Chick Fil A and Chili's Too at Clemson.

They handle Hopkins and people that I know there are not too happy. There is an Epicurean where I work for the summer... I don't know why the word "luxury" was ever throw in.

Aramark may not be a huge step up cuisine-wise, but at least we are loosening the death-grip Marriott has had on our dear alma mater. The sooner Marriott is off campus, the better.

Wasn't Sodexho spun off into a separate company from Marriott? Was Marriott doing all food service themselves still and the conference center too? Or was Sodexho doing food service?
Sodexho is here on campus. Aramark has some good food at Camden Yards in some of the restaurants.

If Aramark is behind the unreasonably large hotdogs at Camden Yards, GU's undergrad population will be growing in more ways than one.

If Aramark is behind the unreasonably large hotdogs at Camden Yards, GU's undergrad population will be growing in more ways than one. They worked for me last night - had a buffet in the picnic grove for UMBC night. Hot dogs and hamburgers and beer. That and a ticket was $25. By the time you had one of each food item and a beer or coke you'd probably gotten your money's worth on ballpark prices since the face value of the game tickets was $15. Free refills on the beer (2 beers per person per trip until 15 mins prior to the game - then just 1) and cokes - was supposed to be a one time trip for the food but they weren't taking the tickets like they were supposed to. Needless to say I'm still stuffed.

I know, I know this is probably a good move long term.
But think about the incoming freshmen who will never know the simple joys of chicken finger Thursday or french toast sticks. Won't someone please think of them?!

Does this mean we might actually get a decent hamburger in Leo's?!?!?!? Doubtful.... all institutional food service burgers are required to have a large amount of soybean filler.

We could still have Chicken Finger Thursdays. One final semester of school and I don't know how I feel about the change but they have to keep them. It's not like they had a trademark or anything, right?

I think most of these food services are similar to be honest. Marriot can produce good food; they just had a low scale for the New South / Leos menus. Darnell actually was a step above New South back in 2000 - 2004 when I was there.
Essentially, from what I learned Marriot had a 12 point scale. 1 would be cheese and crackers and 12 is steak and lobster etc. You get the picture. I believe New South was on the 3 scale and Darnell was on the 4 scale. (I never heard what Leo's was on but I thought they stepped it up to a 4, but I can't say for sure). If you ever went to a nicer event at g town (alot of the times if parents were involved) they would step up the level of service ...
These new companies - I just hope G town gets a good deal and can pick a higher scale for everyone. Either way people will always complain because its the same food every day.

Site your sources. That is slander aganist the great Marriott Co. New South food was good. Darnell sucked.
New South had the perfect chicken fingers, Darnells were either overcooked or under. New South pizza was better, the cookies were more moist and chewy. Darnell did have better Salad.
I've heard it for years and its all rumors and false. Oh Marriott feeds us the same food as prisoners. Just not true. The food was great. Aramark is going to suck and students are going to complain even more.

I was told of a similar scale, and that American Airlines food, also a Marriot product, is a 4, while Leo's is a 3. So that's interesting.
