The XB-15 was a huge pre-WWII prototype bomber that was almost 50% bigger than the B-17 (which was the famous WWII bomber). It was way ahead of its time, but that fact doomed it because there weren't any engines powerful enough to give it a reasonable speed, so only one was built. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_XB-15(Yes, I am unbelievably anal about aviation-related things)

Well looks like you got me again...but technically it was a WWII era bomber, although it was never comissioned, thanks for refreshing my knowledge on it, I thought I had seen something on the history channel about it
