1)Glad I was wrong about the outcome
2)Bowman still has not reached his potential and has yet to put it all together but this may have been the best game of his career. He was all over the place in a good way. Posting up. Hitting a three. Using his quick first step and throw-the-ball-ahead move to get down the baseline for a three point play. His dribble drive to put the Hoyas ahead in the end. Rebounding. Blocking shots. Dishing out assists. Did I miss something? You can argue he was the best player on the floor last night. He was calm, smooth and under control ala a Pippen or Grant Hill. The cool thing he still has a lot of room for improvement. Four good games in a row for Bowman. In the three losses he has had bad games. So is it safe to say that as Bowman goes so goes the team?
3)Speaking of four games in a row…four straight games in which the Hoyas have shot 50% or better starting with the win against Clemson. 52.2, 50.0, 59.6 and 50.0. When was the last time the Hoyas have shot fifty percent or better for that many games in a row? I don’t recall GU even doing that when the Iverson teams played a bunch of cupcakes.
4)DJ had the biggest rebound of his career easily when he grabbed that missed three with under a minute left in the game. That gave GU an extra possession and after the timeout Bowman hit the go ahead basket. Owens has never been the good rebounder that he is capable of being and he would have been the last person on the court I would have predicted to grab such a huge board. He also made some clutch jump shots and for the second time in three games scored in double figures (which he has only done twice this season). Good stepping up on his part. Good stepping up on the part of all the upperclassmen who played (DJ, BB and Cook).
