There has to be something missing in this story - why do you pull out before most of you opponents even enter the race?

Might be good for Allen - VA media can focus on Warner pulling out instead of Allen's terrible campaign strategy.
Not to high-jack this thread - but as a new VA voter - the Webb/Allen election is very annoying. Allen is doing everything he can to lose the election and Webb is doing very little to win it. The only thing that is sure after the election is that Allen has no shot at the White House either.

I don't think Allen is doing everything he can to lose the election, I think the media have taken a minor mistake and blown it into a major one. Allen seems to be pulling ahead with a reasonable margin despite the crusade by the Washington Post and others against him. If you do a search at the Post's website on the word macaca you will get 202 hits in the last 60 days. Why this is more important than Webb's comments that woman dorms in the Naval Academy would be a paradise for horny women is beyond me. Fair and balanced.

I'm not sure about how much Allen is pulling ahead. The debates weren't really that great for either candidate. Allen said some stupid stuff, but Webb didn't capitalize on it and let Allen sort of bully him when they were asking each other questions. Webb also has this really bad habit of not making eye contact with ANYONE when he's on TV. Both seemed really coached and not particularly good at political debates - but then again I'm not sure there is a candidate outside of potentially Clinton and Keyes that I've ever seen who is really good at political debates.

PS - Ed, as madness is less than 3:30 hours away for me, my heart is not really in this discussion. I'll check back with you tomorrow to debate Virginia politics more - bottom line is I love me some inefficient negative campaining.

I never heard of this website. Maybe it earns its "popularity" from viewers like SPH.

I refresh it a lot. It came up in my daily search for "Mark Warner + beastiality" yesterday.
