first, congrats to the hoyas. what a win! i will never, never say anything negative about darrell owens again.
being in hartford, we get all the uconn games. uconn's loss last night should have been by a wider margin. craig smith had some poor calls go against him and that ridiculous call on the 3 point attempt by anderson was nothing but home town cooking.
this uconn team is in transition and i don't think they are very confident. the front line is tough. i'd kill to have boone on the hoyas. villanueva played well last night. gay is good but erratic. but, the guards are shaky - especially at the point. boy, does uconn miss taleik brown. they knocked that kid for 4 years. but all he did was run that offense and lead the transition game. marcus williams reminds me of braswell. lefty with a crafty game. not really athletic. big differences - marcus can't shoot and his handle is suspect. he was stripped clean late in the game yesterday and he doesn't make good decisions. i'd love to see the hoyas trap him and force anderson to make some plays. anderson's game is so one-dimensional as a 3-point shooter. if the hoyas handled krauser, they can certainly handle williams and anderson. plus, uconn won't be getting those hometown calls.
can't wait until saturday. nothing would make me happier then coming to work and talking smack on monday.

Here is where I think they should learn to trap UConn's guards all night long. Make them work and make them suffer.
For those of you not in DC, today is foggy, cold, and miserable.... and yet I can't stop smiling and all seems hopeful.
Funny how a "program win" can do that for you!

i was rather amused to read/hear:
that Pitt should never have "let" the Hoyas get off to that start in the first half
that Pitt should have put the Hoyas away when they got a 6- point lead at the end
that Pitt is not a good defensive team anymore without Page and Brown
that Chevy Troutman was sick and vomiting during the game
that GU is no longer a bigeast -caliber school
cant wait to hear Calhoun's excuses if the Hoyas are able to do a number on them on Sat
HoyaSaxa!
PS Hey Roy how about a few "statement" blocks on Charlie V and/or Boone?

BC-UConn aftermathsports.bostonherald.com/college/view.bg?articleid=62095&format=``They were outsized by us, not out-toughed by us,'' Calhoun said. ``In my 19 years, very few teams have come in here and taken games away from us. ``When I saw (Jared) Dudley continue to post us up and have his way in the paint, I knew something was wrong - all 6-foot-6 and 217 pounds of him, to throw people around. We had two juniors who played integral parts in our national championship (Rashad Anderson and Denham Brown) just get punked in there. He had his way in the post.'' BC's Craig Smith also questioned UConn's toughness. ``They're big, they're long, they're athletic, but when it comes to banging, I don't think they wanted any part of that,'' Smith said. ..and this one: One sign seen behind the BC bench last night said BC stands for ``Betrayal College.''

uconn wasn't tough at all last night. a lot of standing around in the lane while bc was being active. bc made their big run while smith sat with 4 fouls.
bet your bottom dollar that calhoun will have this team focused and ready for saturday. that being said, the hoyas need to exploit the weakness at pg to win this game. this will be a great game.

UCONN's guard play stunk last night. That entry pass with about 25 secs remaining was terrible and it cost them the game. Josh Boone, however, played a very very good game and will probably have his way on Saturday. I say let him have his 25 pts, 10 rebs and put all the pressure on their backcourt. We can win this.

It's tough to win two in a row on the road against ranked conference opponents. As excited as we are about our win, this will still be a UConn dominated crowd at the MCI.
But if we can do it...if we can stay hot from downtown and play solid defense, I hope this will be a launching point to get local fans back to the MCI to root on our Hoyas. We deserve a home crowd.
Until that point, if you're going to the game, bring your friends. Bring those who lost faith long ago and show them our new team. Wear your blue and gray. We're going to need all the voices we can muster.

We have to shoot a really good percentage again, because UConn should beat us pretty easily on the boards. We need to frustrate their guards and pick up some cheapies on their bigs, but I'd say the chances, while not so good, are maybe not as bad in winning this game than a lot of people would have thought a few weeks (a day?) ago.

kenpom has us as a +1 favorite. Also, our RPI bumped up to 63, which ain't bad with just 1 conf. game under our belt.

Gonna be tough to sneak up on UConn. The guys, esp. Green, will have to step it up a lot.
Hopefully Hibbert can establish a defensive presence in the post.
Our guards will have to crush theirs for us to have a good chance.

good point fotp. the weather should be better this weekend. i'm guessing that mci will be rocking saturday.
wildhoya - you said something about calhoun making excuses. calhoun doensn't make excuses. he fixes problems. that's why he has 2 titles. i think calhoun's the top coach in america. uconn will be ready on saturday.

whatever, hoya50
do u agree that maybe its time for GU to readopt an attitude of not being intimidated by anyone.
that attitude is not really that hard to foster(and it's contagious).

yo wild,
i'm on your side. i'm rooting for the grey and blue. the fact remains that calhoun is no slouch and he is not a whiner. the guy can coach and is an extremely effective motivator. maybe i appreciate that more because of my location.
my point is that 1 - uconn will bring it on saturday and 2 - win or lose, calhoun won't cry and offer bs reasons for his team's performance.
as far as being intimidated, i don't think the hoyas are intimidated, nor should they be. shaq or jordan won't be suiting up for uconn saturday. but, you have to respect your opponent and certainly the success of uconn demands that. it was just a few games ago that the hoyas needed ot to beat norfolk state. uconn isn't norfolk state.
