Academic rigor? - Prof. Terrio: "Mr. Feith has defended the use of torture. I know this because this is what Prof. Lance said." - Prof. Lance: "Mr. Feith has defended the use of torture. I know this because it was in Newsweek."
Impressive.

I'm all for Feith being part of the Georgetown faculty. It is important to have a variety of viewpoints on campus, and the conservative view is often underrepresented. Besides, if we outlawed the hiring of people accused of war crimes, we would never have any Republicans on campus. I'm only kidding, kinda.

I'm not opposed to his hiring on political grounds, I think that the SFS has lost a lot of good academics (see: Ikenberr, G. John) and has been hiring practicioners exclusively (see Tenent, George et al.). I think this is an imbalance that needs to be corrected.

"From Master Chocolatiers Today: Bayonne and the Basque Coast" Hmm, so that's what I missed by not going to grad school.

While reading the syracuse paper this morning, i see a picture of Otto the Orange next to the headline "War Games" and the words "Georgetown University" on the next line. There's really no better way to catch my attention.... "Georgetown University professors are protesting the hiring of Douglas Feith to teach at the School of Foreign Service...insert backround info here....A blogger who calls himself Jesus' General has proposed a syllabus for Feith's course, with the suggested title Poli Sci 430: Fiction Driven Foreign Policy. Among the course requirements: "Demonstrate that the Syracuse mascot, a huge fat orange, is in face a mobile biological weapons lab and a contributor to Move On." patriotboy.blogspot.com/2006_05_21_patriotboy_archive.htmlNot in the Syracuse article, but amusing to me: "Convincing student Senate to pass a resolution calling for the death or enslavement of The George Washington University studentbody"
