Let's not get into the "simple change in coaching." While JTIII is obviously a better coach than Esherick and his offense is a big improvement, Pitt wasn't disrupted by JTIII's icy stare but by a line that went 6'9, 6'9, 7'2. The talent upgrade on the front line made a huge difference as did the schedule, both of which were products of our past head coach, not JTIII.
The administration doesn't get off the hook for not making changes in the program to help JTIII recruit. One win against Pitt doesn't change that. Our talent has been upgraded, and our coach has been upgraded, but our program hasn't been and it won't be unless we solidify the long run issues. It certainly doesn't change the fact that Saturday's game is going to be at "Storrs South" with UConn making up at least half the crowd.
Yeah, we have positive changes from a new coach but we will need a bigger investment for the program to develop. It's the attitude you mention that the administration is banking on to let it get away with standing by and doing nothing.

It's games like toinght's game. Where the Hoya's actually played with heart (unlike Norfolk State) that make me feel better about life. Tonight I hold my head a little higher, feel a little better and am happy. Ashanti, thank you for playing so brilliantly. I am going to bed happy tonight - thank you gentelmen, thank you so much.

Speaking of Esh, this is exactly the kind of surprising win he NEVER gave us. There were those of us who had been saying for years that a simple change in head coach alone (i.e. without dealing with facilities problems, arena problems, cash problems) would lead to immediately noticeable changes. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who wouldn't see such changes already apparent, particularly after tonight. Hoyas fans can now legitimately watch every game for the rest of the reason knowing that there is at least a possibility that the good guys will win. Last season, most games were over before they started. Go Hoyas. Absolutely right. Damn right. Damn straight. I can't agree enough.

What a pleasant surprise for me when I learned of our victory last night on a train out of Penn Station! Congratulations to all of our players and our coaching staff!

This is awesome! My goodness, let me just second all of the pure joy others have mentioned. This feels so good! And, true enough Big Dog: "Hoyas fans can now legitimately watch every game for the rest of the reason knowing that there is at least a possibility that the good guys will win". Not that I needed a whole lot of motivation to be excited about my Hoyas, but now I feel like we can be in any game.
And all this after the Bucknell loss. I thought Pitt would come out raging. Hey, maybe this'll be a trend:
1) Pitt loses before playing Gtown 2) Expected result - get revenge on Gtown 3) Gtown wins anyway
So, let's now extend this to the upcoming UConn game...
1) UConn loses to BC 2) Expected result - get revenge on Gtown 3) Gtown rocks their world?!
I also look forward to Jeff Green and Rudy Gay playing against each other... we'll see what happens there.
This is great! This is great! This is great!

What did I do before the HoyaTalk board came into existence (thank you, thank you, DFW)?! It is such a joy to be able to share the experience of a win like this with equally dedicated fans. Hoya Saxa!!!

Just like to share my experience of learning about our ginormous win of this game with you guys. I was snowboarding in beautiful Tahoe with some of my buddies and didn't get back to my cabin until around 5:30PM (that's 8:30PM Eastern time). I do not have internet access up there, so I wanted to go to ESPNews and follow updates on the ticker perhaps, but my friends of course took over the TV to watch god knows what. As I was walking to the garage I get a call from my roommate and he's screaming into my ear that we just beat Pitt. At that moment I think I levitated about 3 feet in the air. He tells that we were up by as much as 20, that Ashanti had an unbelievable game, and that BB hit the winning shot.
I run upstairs to the TV and demand that ESPNews be put on. Sure enough, eventually the ticker reads "Georgetown 67, Pittsburgh 64" with Ashanti scoring 23 and Bowman 18. I wait and I wait for the highlights, but it was only til after we went out to dinner that I was able to see the highlights to this amazing game. All I saw on SC/ESPNews was plays from the last 2 minutes, but I realized that if I had been watching this game live I would have had a heart attack from all the screaming and emotions that I would have gone through during and after the game.
Now, this is a HUGE win, but this is only one game and it is early in Big East, and I think Pittsburgh is very overrated and may not be ranked for long. We need to put up a good performance against UConn and show that we must be reckoned with in the Big East. It was great to see our upperclassmen (Ashanti, BB, DO) step up BIG time, for the first time in a while. Let's hope this keeps up and that Green and Hibbs can step it up a little better against UConn. We need CONSISTENCY from this team, and by consistent I mean consistently good.
Can't wait to see us win live and in person on Saturday!

CAHoya, we were a bit worried about the "wild and crazy guys" (you and OO7), since neither of you posted on the board for a few days. As my surrogate (HoyaLawya says protege), I didn't want anything to happen to you that you wouldn't be able to cheer the Hoyas on this year. I am relieved to hear that you will be there to cheer the Hoyas on against UCONN (coming back early - that is what I like to hear - real dedication).
Your comment about fearing a heart attack when watching them live made me laugh, because I tend to be like that, even taping live games, finding out the score, and if it is a win, watching the whole tape. We missed you and 007 in the chatroom. I was thinking of doing my el foldo and leaving since it was so close, but I stuck with it, and it was amazing. I could almost hear the cheering that went on after Pitt threw the ball away and the Hoyas ended up victorious.
Go HOYAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat UCONN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
