A 24 hour diner with a bar? That sounds like one of the best things in the history of man. Hoya Saxa.... (Holding back a tear.)

Another idea from way back: make Copley Formal a senior dining room with beer and wine service from the bar, which exists in the corner of the room. It doesn't necessarily have to be a coat and tie type environment, but with some brainstorming out there, it could still be a nice departure from the traditional meal plan for the seniors and maybe even faculty, since none of the faculty really frequents the so-called Faculty Club.

Taco Bell!! KFC!! Subway!! Pizza Hut!! All on campus!!
That's awesome! I can't wait! Hopefully they keep it open late night, since Taco Bell is one of the best drunk foods ever. Though, I am willing to explore KFC as a possible alternative during the next school year. ;D

You'd take Taco Bell drunk over Philly Cheesesteak? Are you SURE you're a Hoya?!
Man I must have eaten close to 500 of those things during college at least. Probably closer to 5,000...
... and I wonder why I gained 249 pounds...

Yeah, for drunk eats, nothing at Fast Break gets it done. All that food is pretty bad full stop actually. Cheesesteak was great, but closed to early for proper drunken eats. I always went with Quick Pita, which was open till 4am. Capaccinos and Manny and Olgas were open late, but the food invariably sucked I think.

The upgrade to Hoya Court is much needed. And I am a huge proponent of senior/faculty dining club.

Cap's pizza really was terrible, but they would deliver until 5. Considering that the pizza from there gave me the worst heartburn of any single food ever, maybe it wasn't the best idea to order from there thrice a week senior year. Of course the 500 lb delivery guy trying to increase his tip by offering his favorite selections of soft core porn was usually nice.

I took a year off of Philly Cheesesteak last year, what with the fact they can't deliver warm food (or deliver it within an hour) and the fact that I lived past T St. last year, so no matter how drunk I was, I wasn't willing to walk to Philly Cheesesteak. Plus Taco Bell brings back memories of drunken nights at Macalester over breaks. That and tacos are maybe my favorite food.

Dude Philly Cheesesteak is open until like 4am... or at least it was during my days (which weren't too long ago).

I think Philly goes until 1 am, but I could be wrong. The question of drunk food in Georgetown is a very serious one, and something I really struggled with. As a wise senior, I learned to order an extra order of wings from Wingos on nights I planned on boozing. Now, this wasn't a full proof solution, since I also ended up boozing on many other nights, but when it worked...wow.
This is quite possibly the single biggest advantage that NYC maintains over DC. Well, that and functional public transportation.

However, I respectfully disagree on Philly Cheesesteak as it gave me food poisoning once ... yes ... food poisoning ...

Philly Pizza is open until 4am - I think Cheesesteak is open until 3am, Dominos is open until 3am, Lido's Pizza in Burlieth is open 24 hours - and wingos is planning on opening later ... what is your problem finding drunchies?

I think that Copley Formal will not be remodeled - it make too much money as it is hosting wedding receptions, speakers, and the ocassional religious service.

Has anyone else noticed the pizza that Philly sells by the slice is far superior to the stuff they deliver? The pizza they sell by the slice is the best pizza I've had in DC, while the delivery stuff is just average. My friend asked the guy behind the counter one night why it was so different, and the guy acted like he had no idea what we meant. Are my friends and I crazy, or has anyone else experienced this?

I have definitely experienced this - the difference is from what i can tell they are made in two different ovens in the back and one is far superior to the other.

As a certified pizza expert (I am to pizza what James Lipton is to acting), I can say with certainty that your experience is not unique, CT.
Actually, a lot of pizzerias have this problem. Based on experience (having worked in a pizzeria all through high school, every summer and winter break during college, even a bit during grad school), I would say this: when the pizza comes out of the oven, its got the cheese and topping "sweat" released during baking. When its taken from the oven and delivered to you, that sweat sits there and works its way into every nook and cranny on the pie. The lower quality the cheese and toppings, the more "sweat" (that's why some pizzas are a lot greasier than others).
When it comes out of the oven and sits in that little rotisserie thing under the heat lamp, something happens whereby the pizza is continually cooked at a lower temperature until you purchase it. More crap evaporates, the cooking allows the grease to seep in differently, who knows. The fact is, its essentially prepared differently than the one that goes right from the oven to your house.
Sincerely, BuffaloHoya President, American Pizza Institute at Georgetown (A.P.I.G.)

I just experienced this phenomenon last night (the summer apt in Kober is a lot more conducive to drunk trips to get food) and I was just wondering about it.
Thanks Buff. And what a great talkboard--I mean, where else can you get such high quality analysis on everything from the Kenner League to the difference b/w delivery pizza and pizza by the slice?
