Since this board is all about voting for Georgetown in polls, I thought this could be something to rally around... it was sent out by broadcast email last night We're writing to tell you about the unique work of Georgetown students to stop genocide in Sudan and to invite you to support their efforts. This work by the undergraduate group Students Taking Action Now: Darfur (STAND) has earned the prestige of being selected by the Reebok Human Rights Foundation as one of three finalists nationwide for financial support to expand its work. The winner will be selected through an online vote currently being held during the next few days on mtvU.com. Georgetown STAND will use the funds to build awareness about the Darfur crisis and to catalyze communities to help support the education of children in refugee camps in the region. If you would like to cast a vote for the proposal of Georgetown STAND, you can go to the following url: www.mtvu.com/on_mtvu/activism/darfur_activism_awards/Students, faculty, staff and friends are all eligible to vote (Voting ends Wednesday, May 4). STAND has been supported by various University departments, especially the Center for Social Justice, Research, Teaching and Service. To learn more about the genocide and about STAND's work, you can visit the following website: www.standarfur.org .
