After extensive research, I've found that neither the bookstore, nor any other source offers traditional scarves in Georgetown colors. This is a standby among British universities, as well as Ivy league and older American schools. If anyone's ever been to a Harvard-Yale game, you'll recall seeing droves of older folks proudly wearing wool scarves made ratty by age showing their school colors with with vertical stripes. Frankly, they look pretty cool in an "old school" sort of way. I called J. Press - which offers such scarves for the Ivies, Williams, UVA and a few others, but NOT GEORGETOWN. Anyone know of a way we can make this happen at the Hilltop? At some universities, having a school scarf is more important than buying a class ring (as well as cheaper and an easy way to show one's association with the school without someone having to stare at tiny letter's on your finger). If you've never seen a traditional school scarf and are curious, check www.jpressonline.com and click on the link for school scarves. Any brave soul want to lead the campaign to get the bookstore (or the DC branch of J. Press, which is located in Gtown, for God's sake) to order and stock these items?

I went to grad school in the UK and still have my school scarf. It's pretty nice and it would be great if GU had one as well.
Some stores might make custom ones, if you placed an order. You may at least be able to start selling them on this board, if there were enough interest (ie solicit orders in advance). Then maybe that company (JPress for example) might see the popularity and produce them as a regular product.
For what it's worth, I'd buy one if the cost were reasonable.

Thank you - I was looking for the "traditional" scarf. You can see them for other schools at jpressonline.com. There are some English companies that will make one in the school colors, but unfortunately neither the bookstore nor J Press' Georgetown store carries them.

I've had one made by an English manufacturer - they sent me a sample and it looks great. Once I receive the finished product, I'll post a photo of it and give everyone the contact info. Depending on the exchange rate, it'll run between $40-50.
