Channel 7 news reported tonight that 6 townhomes around the Prospect Street townhome in which a GU student died Sunday morning as a result of a fire caused by faulty wiring are being evacuated due to DC safety inspections.
All of the townhomes are occupied by GU students and the students supposedly met with GU housing administrators to find new accommodations. Channel 7 reported that some of the students' landlords posted signs in the townhomes demanding that students not answer the door to allow DC inspectors access to examine wiring and other supposed violations of fire codes.
More to come on this story, for sure. Our thoughts and prayers are with the MSB student who passed away and his family....

11 PM update: Yep, Channel 7 showed the frathouse with an eviction notice--12 Hoyas had to leave today from 3401 Prospect. 30 in all are affected along Prospect. Some can stay pending clean-ups and smoke alarm installations; others have to leave tonight. GU has offered temporary housing to all those affected.....
