(NOTE: For some reason, the board sign-in is being stubborn, so I can't login as "FLHoya" at the moment.)
So I went to the Kenner League Semifinals this past Friday night to watch the Tombs play Nike Air. Afterwards, I'm walking up to meet some friends at one of their townhouses in Glover Park and I figure I'll stop to get a sandwich on the way.
It's about 9:50pm as I head down the street to Wisemiller's. As I'm approaching, I notice the "CLOSED" sign on the door. Oh well, I figure they just close early during the summer since no one's around--I remembered something like that from being there last summer.
But then I pass the store and it's completely gutted.
Big "LEGAL NOTICE" sign and a few other documents on the front windows, no real explanation. Plus, besides having been gutted, there's some minor renovation being done to the inside--some wood cabinets and a sink possibly near the front where the registers were. The grill area's gutted and everything's gone back there too.
So what happened to Wisey's? Renovation? Lost their lease? Merged with the Morton's steakhouse on Prospect Street? Is this the end of a Georgetown insitution (at least for the younger set?)
Only fact I know is that some friends said they'd been as recently as a few weeks ago and it was still there.

Wisey's is actually being renovated, much to the chagrin of my friend who wanted me to bring him a chicken madness when I visit him in NYC this week.
Word is, they're hoping to be open by the end of this week, but it looks like they might be a little more than a week away. Whatever they change, they better keep the same grill -- I don't think they could really make another madness without it.
