Georgetown placed ninth in a survey of dream colleges:
NYU has been named the No. 1 dream school by the Princeton Review, beating out the usual favorites of Harvard, Stanford, and Yale. But college hopes and dreams are also accompanied by college worries and fears. The following fun facts were culled from a Princeton Review survey of 3,036 college applicants and 303 parents.
The Top 10 Dream Colleges:
1. New York University 2. Harvard University 3. Stanford University 4. Yale University 5. Duke University 6. Columbia University 7. Princeton University 8. University of Notre Dame 9. Georgetown University 10. Cornell University

The contrarian mid-westerner in me hates, hates, that ND made the list AND beat us out for the #8 slot. I'm guessing the polling included too many "subway alumni."
I'm also guessing these dreamers have never been to Ithica or wandered off Yale's campus into New Haven...

Crazy mid-west thinks ND is a better school than GU. That's just nuts. Still, it's definitely a good group of schools to be listed with, to say the least. Is this online, or only in the book?

what are the criteria? Seems like location has to be very high for NYU to be there. It is not a top 25 school- its undergrad faculty and curricula are suspect, and certainly inferior to Columbia's in every way.

"My alma mater" sure does pull a lot of votes, coming in at 32% of those identifying their dream college. I'm guessing alumni participation is right around 40% in this poll. How serendipitous that 32% of those polled ended up at their dream school...
And it's true about Ithica; my weekend trip up as a senior in May 1995 coincided with spring that year. It was nice, but I'm not sure it was nice enough to get past the other 210 or so days you'd be there. Plus, you'd definitely need locomotion of some kind to get around that campus.
