Pitt entered the game on a 48-0 run for non-conference home games. They'll be even angrier Wednesday. Great day for PL hoops: Holy Cross beat URI, American beat Delaware, and Lafayette beat an underrated Columbia team. sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/boxscore?gid=200501020465

This is good in a way because now we see that Pitt can be beaten and if Georgetown plays good defense then this game is ours. But, we did want a shot at an undefeated team at there place. Also, this hurts because now Pitt is gonna come out with a chip on their shoulders and come out with their best game they can have.

You wonder how Pitt could lose to Bucknell at home.
You wonder even more when you see they shot 52% and outrebounded Bucknell by 9.
Then you see they shot 45% from the line. The little things always catch up to you in basketball.

In my opinion, this is bad for the Hoyas-Pitt was obviously overconfident and starting to believe in their own hype and thus ripe for the upset. The problem is that Bucknell got to them first. Which means that their bubble has been burst and they're regrouping. Now, if Pitt was a young team, this wouldn't necessarily put a huge kink in our plans, but since they are an older, experienced team, they'll know how to bounce back from upsets and likely take out their anger at losing on our plucky Hoyas.

If we win, it would have been a better win for us had they not lost to Bucknell.
The loss does not work in our favor.

News flash: Pitt ain't overconfident
I've seen the boys and they miss Page and Brown in a big way. We have to pressure Krauser to beat them. The other guys aren't special. Bucknell exposed in Pitt what Western PA already knew: Chevy Troutman is the fourth to fifth player on anyone else's team.
That includes ours. Bucknell has a 6'11 center and two of the last three Pitt opponents had a tall center as well. Troutman has no moves off the dribble. He doesn't create his own shot at all. If you pressure Krauser, Pitt falls. That's not because of points, Krauser had 20 tonight. It's because of assists to Troutman. Krauser had two assists tonight. He averages close to six. That was the difference.
We can beat Pitt, overconfidence or not. Our starting lineup is legitimate with two guards that shoot 40% from three, a forward among the top ten returning players in points rebounds, and blocks, another who might be BE ROY, and a 7'3 center. We can beat Pitt.
Let's not get too trapped in the "give them time" BS. We won't hate JTIII if he can't pulll this off but at the same time, we have a very competitive lineup and can definitely beat Pitt.

"Give them time" isn't BS when you start three freshman, one of whom is a walk on, and another who's a project. I'm not ceding any games this year - we can compete with Pitt, and we should at least put ourselves in a position to win down the stretch. But realistically, I think your WAY off on Chevy Troutman. He's a very efficient inside player. He rebounds great and fits their team perfectly. In my opinion, Pitt will field the best three players on the court tommorow.
Pitt has some vulnerabilities, no doubt. They don't seem to be defending like they used to. But when they lost Knight, Zavackas, and Lett a couple years ago, I wrote their epitath. I'm not making the same mistake again. This is a tough, experienced squad that's going to be angry and fired up on Wednesday. The guys better be ready for a war.

I agree with nychoya. I just about fell off the sofa when I saw this score on the news tonight. From our standpoint, I think this is the worst thing that could possibly have happened, as I expect this to be a big time wake up call for Pitt. Good luck guys, but I think we be in big trouble.

I have to agree that this wasn't what we wanted to happen. It doesn't really provide a blueprint for beating Pitt when they shoot well from the field and horribly from the FT line. You can't gameplan poor FT shooting from your opponent. We need to rebound, rebound and then rebound some more for us to have a chance tonight. Troutman may not be that good, but he has looked like an All-American every time we've played against Pitt over the last few years and that's the only games that I care about how good he is. Pitt's teams over the past few years have beaten a ton of squads with more talent just by pure hustle, defense and rebounding. These will be the key in our game and if we don't win at least 2 of the 3, we will not be in the game. If we take all 3, we could beat them easily but that can be said for just about any game on your schedule.

It's not Troutman we have to worry about, its Taft. He's a monster inside and I don't see Roy being able to hang with him. Taft is too athletic

Remember what 3 said: We can lose to, or beat, any team in the country. We play good D, it might not matter what Pitt does.
Of course Pitt can be stopped. Any team can be stopped. We got blown out by ORU and Temple- we just have to come with focus and play hard. Run our offense.
What's interesting about this game is that Pitt plays the same type of offense we do. It might come down to who runs it better.

Quite a game played by Bucknell.
Pitt missed 11 of 20 free throws, which had half of those been made, they would have won. Furthermore, they had 5 more turnovers then the guys from Bucknell. Bucknell missed 2 of 16.
I gotta believe we're gonna get slapped around tommorow night...I think we could beat htem close like Bucknell, but otherwise we're gonna get killed. Suppose that's the way every game will be this year, so I'm not really saying anything new....

If Bucknell wins the Patriot League, this win will almost assure that they will not play in the play-in game.

I saw Pitt play this year, they are not that strong. A lot of these pre-season rankings are based on hype alone, and what teams did the year before. We can beat them.

I agree with most posters. I did not like the score last night, coming so close to our game. Pitt is probably out there shooting FTs right now. It will take a hard and good effort for us to win. Go Hoyas!

everyone is missing the boat on pitt, the reason they are hard to beat is there defence.that is why they win they play tremoundous tough defence. plus taft, troutman, krauser is experienced and they rebound well. do not make to many turnovers. this will be tough game for any team to play, after they got upset by bucknell.i think we must shoot the 3 well ,and cut down on our turnovers ,if we do that it should be pretty close game.
go hoyas pull the big upset!!!!!

jc's posts may be hard to decipher at times, and he may be spelling-challenged, but he's right about Pitt.
Also, props (??) to jc for being the obvious inspiration for lichoya. Say, given the current contretemps over FOTG and FOTP, could jc and lic actually be the same person? Has anyone ever seen them together?

i just wanted to see what it is like to make a post without any punctuation since it appears to be the new way to do things on this board i watched pitt play richmond before x-mas and the physically dominated richmond with their defense and yet richmond was able to hang in the game by making threes and ended up staying in the game until the end if we can have a strong shooting night (wallace, dj, brandon) we could have a shot, but green cannot get in foul trouble
