espn.com has it 24 - 3 Brown with Brown scoring the first 10 points. Something is wrong.

Don't know why. Cangelosi played well in the first half (pretty much all our offensive output) but hasn't taken a snap in the second. Not good.

Well, I was briefly on campus around halftime (left at 17-3), and I'm pleased to report the stands were sold out. Lots of Brown faithful, obviously, but plenty of Blue and Gray as well. Plenty of people were even standing outside along the road between the field and the dorm watching.
As for the score, coming up with only 3 points for three trips down to the goalline can't help but come back to bite you in the keister.

O-Line is awful. QB play poor, but hard to tell if it's the terrible O-line and WRs fault. RBs mediocre.
Kicking game awful. Return teams awful. Playcalling AWFUL. Time management AWFUL.
I have no confidence at all that Benson has a clue.
And the new seats stink too - they seem to have been made for midgets.

I forgot to add that for a while before the game started they wouldn't let any more people in (including my friend who had been at the game and had a seat next to me, but had went to get food), so some people left.
Then, 10 minutes later, they started letting everyone in again. Sucks for those who said F this and left.

That one hurt. Good turn out though by the students/fans. Horrible second half by the Hoyas. The offense played poorly and the defense wore down. #42 for Brown was a beast.

Oh man!
I am so disappointed. The ticker on ESPN said "Georgetown 7, Brown 3 Final." We had that game won for about 6 hours in my mind.
uggh.

42 is up for Walter Payton Award. His Brother plays for the HOyas a sophmore DB Ben Hostetler, the guy who came in and played quarterback for Georgetown in the second half and may or may not be related to Jeff, has an older brother who plays for Brown as well. I was working on the chain crew, and alot of the Brown guys were talking to him about how he wanted to get in there and hit his brother just like everyone else on their defense was doing. Unfortunately (or fortunately, from a Georgetown standpoint), he was injured and did not play. As for the game, I had a different vantage point than just about everyone else on the board, and I have to say, the blame for today's poor performance lies first on the shoulders of the coaching staff. The playcalling was atrocious. Since we had no passing game to speak of, Brown's cornerbacks were playing no less than eight yards off the line (on the visitor's side, anyway). Now, this might just be years of Madden speaking, but I would think the logical thing to do would be to run a WR screen or a quick hitch to the receiver on that side of the field. That quick pass would have gained 4 or 5 yards every time, and if the receiver broke a single tackle he could have gone for thirty or even more. I wasn't even asking the coaches to call this every series; just ONCE, to show they're watching the game. As for the first and goal from the four debacle...when you run the ball four straight times against a defense with 17 guys in the box, you will not go anywhere (see Boston College vs. Florida State, 9/17/05). How about play-action, fade passes, or rollouts? If anyone reads TMQ on NFL.com, you know how he writes this item almost every week. Running when the other team expects you to results in negative yardage. Apparently, the Georgetown coaching staff never got the memo. What our team truly needs is some size in the receiving corps. If we were to attempt any fade passes like I suggested, we would need guys bigger than 5'9" to compete in those jump-ball situations. If I were coaching this team, come recruiting season (for the next two or three years) I would focus on recruiting three tall guys who can catch. The importance of size is not limited solely to the basketball court. I've read/heard alot on the struggles of our offensive line. All I know on that front is that our quarterbacks took alot of punishment. Alot of it came from the fact that most of our offensive plays were quarterback keepers/option runs/scrambles. I don't know if our line played poorly or was just outsized/outskilled by Brown. Next time I'll try to pay more attention to how the line plays. I don't know if this is a coincidence, or if anyone mentioned it already, but SIX games today featured Ivy League teams playing against Patriot League teams. The final tally? Ivy League 6, Patriot League 0. sports-att.espn.go.com/ncf/scoreboard?confId=27&weekNumber=3&seasonYear=2005I guess that while we have a long way to go to be competitive in the Patriot League, the PL itself has a ways to go before it can compete with the Ivy League.

It's sad to say, but we don't have a lot of talent. Great coaching can make up for that - but unfortunately we don't have that either. My freshman year I thought the playcalling and time management were pathetic; they still are. The program has made NO strides in the past 3-4 years.

THere is talent in the receiver position. THey are standing on the sidelines! Van Fleet is talented, a senior and sophmore returning from injury were ready to go!! Recruited some very talented tall receivers in freshamn class. SOme i hear were heavily recruited by the IVIEs Offensive coordinator uses the same plays over and over and the same players who are ineffective. Frustratiting for everyone. hopefully Benson will take control of the offensive. If play calling does not change you will get the same results.

My freshman year I thought the playcalling and time management were pathetic; they still are. The program has made NO strides in the past 3-4 years. Every year is supposed to be the year we start to improve. The only improvement we made was when we went from 0 wins in our first game in the PL to 2 the next year. Since then it's been 2-3 PL wins a year (except for last year's debacle). It's been 5 years since we entered the PL and we STILL aren't able to really compete with it. If we don't go at least .500 in the PL this year, I think some hard questions might need to be asked.
