Don't kid yourselves - this kind of stuff goes on all the time, it just doesn't make the papers. Harvey Thomas won't succeed anywhere, Hall wasn't that good to begin with, Bethel probably had the best argument but who cares. Someone should have asked Moore why he thinks bottomfeeding in the ACC for four years is the better option.

Why do we care what 3 guys think who were clearly NBA all-stars in their heads and haven't really done much?
It would be different if Sweets said the same things.

I can't believe some of you are actually sticking up for Tony Bethel, Drew Hall, and Harvey Thomas advising Cheyenne Moore not to come to Georgetown because they do a poor job of developing guards. I've checked the numbers and Tony Bethel is averaging 9.1PPG and is shooting 39% from the field and 33% from behind the 3-point line. Drew Hall is averaging 3.5PPG, has come off the bench for 2 games, and is shooting 33% from the field and from behind the 3-point line. Those 2 are really developing at their new schools? That's a huge improvement over what they did at Georgetown. HA! HA! As for Harvey Thomas......consider the source!!!
In my opinion, a school plays to its strength. Most years Georgetown's best players were interior players. So that is what they focused on. Now their best players are perimeter players(B.Bowman, J.Green, A.Cook, and J.Wallace) so that is where a lot of the scoring comes from. Tony Bethel would probably be better off playing with Georgetown this year, in terms of scoring and showing his skills for the NBA, not necessarily winning.

Thomas, I don't think Tony was correct, but I don't think there's necessarily anything morally wrong with telling the truth if someone asks.

Word has it that he is playing for his sixth developmental league team since the start of the season. He now employs the moniker "Ramblin' Guy."

Oh, yes, somehow the fact that Ronnie ran with him took all credit away from Esherick. Back in the days when everything that went wrong was CE's fault. And nothing good was him. Esh was head coach. Credit and blame lie with him. I think it speaks volumes that Ronnie was invited to the draft and not Esherick. I do not want to take credit away from Esherick because he deserves some, but it appears as though Ronnie is deserving of more. That said, I think you and I would probably come to similar conclusions about the importance of events in March 2004 to improving Georgetown basketball. I am perfectly willing to give credit to worthy coaches, as I offer criticism of coaches who warrant it. Unfortunately, some warrant it more than others.

SF, you and I have disagreed in the past, but your comments on coaches being given way too much credit (and blame) is right on target.
Tony Bethel was given the chance to play his dream position as a sophomore, on a team with possibly the best post player in the country. His play was mediocre at best and very disappointing at worst. Sure, maybe he could have done better under a different system...couldawouldashoulda, blah blah blah, but ultimately the responsibility rests on TB. He had the chance and he simply didn't step up to the plate. That was not about coaching.
As for Hall and Thomas, well, their conduct at Gtown spoke for itself. It is not surprising that they were involved in such treason. Good riddance.
