Time to start thinking about getting some volunteers for tailgates this fall.
I'm condident that Pittsburgh (Duquesne) and New York (Fordham) will be covered, so if there are people out in upstate NY (Colgate), the Jersey Shore (Monmouth), or the Carolinas (Davidson), post something here.
Oh, and how about a GU club of DC tailgate before a game at Harbin?

DC tailgates before games at Harbin would be excellent. I assume this is not a new idea, but I'm not sure where they would be held. Is the parking area by the tennis courts the place? Whatever, wherever, I'm interested.

Yeah, this summer has the entire space of Lot T filled by contractors (for the Performing Arts Center, New South Renovation, and work on ICC solar panels, as well as many smaller projects), so I imagine at least the Performing Arts contractors will be there in the fall, and hopefully, they'll be starting the infrastructure work for the business school, which will help to enable the beginning of work on the M.S.F.

I'm in Raleigh for the foreseeable future, so I'm interested in any Davidson tailgating.

I'm way ahead of myself here, but Davidson is a fair hike from DC. If I'm crazy enough to fly down, is Charlotte the best airport? Also, I have family in Raleigh. How long is the drive from Raleigh to Davidson? Thanks.

How long is the drive from Raleigh to Davidson? Thanks. Charlotte is only a half hour south of Davidson. From RDU, it's a half hour to Durham, an hour to Greensboro, and then another hour down to Kannapolis and 20 minutes over to Davidson...just over three hours on the interstate, maybe less if you cut across on the back roads.

DFW-- You're looking this info up, right? Amazing. I lived in Durham for 3 years and could barely find Chapel Hill.

We are interested in helping out with any tailgating for the players after the games. Our son will be a new student at GU this year and we are looking forward to meeting all the parents! In the past years we have had a blast with parents fixing a huge tailgate meal for the players after each home game. Do you all do that?

My wife and I can't wait for the fun to begin and to meet all the parents, and other Hoya supporters. What is the best way to keep abreast of the tailgaiting and other gameday activities? Also, when the Hoyas travel north to play Brown and HC in the years ahead, I can help coordinate tailgating, etc for these games...hopefully we'll get a few Hoya fans making the long trek. I'm a Brown football alum, and would love to crash the Brown tent with a few of my new Hoya buddies when we play in Providence. Brown Stadium is only 20 minutes from my house, so bring a tent if you need a place to crash for the weekend, LOL!

mass dad, Brown has pretty sorry tailgating for their fans. We played them during the last four years and they did not have much room for tailgating. I think our teams tailgate was the biggest one there!

Briar,
I'm using a different computer, and can't use massdad to log in...hence massdad2. Anyway, which team were you following when you watched Brown play the past four years? I agree, the turnout for Brown football hasn't been that great lately, nothing like the 70's when we won a championship, and contended every year. I've only been to a handful of games over the years due to saturday rugby commitments, and watching son play HS football. I can probably pull some strings, and get us some space in the prime lot next to the stadium when the time comes for the Hoyas to play Bruno.

I've mentioned this before, but given the topic and the timing, I thought it was worth another post. If you will be on campus at the August 10th event, I believe the Gridiron Club will be trying to gauge interest in bus trips from DC to the various away games. That would certainly beef up attendance at some away tailgates. If you are a local alum, parent or simply a fan, stay tuned for more information.

Mass Dad, We were following our older son with Yale. He just graduated this spring so we are looking forward to following the GU team as well! We had friends get us in the lot by the stadium for Brown and had a ton of fun.

We will also be a new Georgetown team family this fall -- our son will be a frosh. We certianly look forward to following many of the games. I am wondering whether the Gridiron Club acts to coordinate tailgates before the games or whether some of the other parents/alums will post and coordinate on this site.... We would love to help contribute to that process, and plan to attend many of the games (and either put lots of miles on our car, or spend lots of frequent flyer miles!!) ;D In any event, we look forward to meeting other GU parents, alums and fans!

I'm a new Hoya parent, myself, however my trip to home games is a bit shorter than yours (it's about the same as it was for high school ) Early on it appeared to me that the coordinating entity for most "official" activities is the Gridiron Club, so I made a contribution and joined. Information is available at HoyaSaxa.com. I assume you received the information about the event on August 10th, so I would expect that there will be some conversation about "unofficial" events at that time. Looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks LBPop -- look forward to meeting you too! I envy your commute to the home games, but, I am sure my son will be perfectly comfortable with the distance to home as he experiences his first year of college!!
