I am sorry to hear that Mr. Kanach is moving on to be AD at Randolph Macon. As a former player, I had numerous interactions with Mr. Kanach, and all of them were possitive. I have to admit that this news comes as quite a suprise to me as well. With over 30 years of service to Georgetown as both a coach and administrator, I would have to guess that this decision was not an easy one for Mr Kanach to make. Coach Benson often refered to him as "the biggest friend this football program has.'' He was a huge part in the football team's improvements through D-III to I-AA and from MAAC to the Patriot League. As a player you could always count on seeing him in his aviator glasses, sitting in a folding chair, in the corner of the endzone on game day. I know he was just as heavily involved in the track and field, men's and women's lacrosse, and other sports programs as well. I am curious as to the motive of this move due to Mr. Kanach's year's of service to Georgetown, the level of his involvement in the sports programs, and the fact that, in my biased opinion, Georgetown seems to be a superior school to Randolf Macon in many respects. If anyone has any theory's as to Kanach's departure I'd love to hear them. Regardless, Mr. Kanach I wish you all the best and would like to say I enjoyed playing football under your administrative command. You will be tough to replace and you will be missed.
