It's such a cliche, but go to Dreamland - 1427 14th Avenue, South; (205) 933-2133

Check out the amusement park (if it is still there) behind the Opryland Hotel... belles galore!

There is a pretty cool pub on the main drag. I think it is called the Brass Monkey. They have pretty good live music later on at night too.

Check out the amusement park (if it is still there) behind the Opryland Hotel... belles galore! Um, the Opryland Hotel is in Nashville...that's in Tennessee. I regret to inform you that the theme park has been gone for about a decade now. It's now Opry Mills, a lovely mall where the average customer weighs in at approximately 375 lbs.

Haha Dreamland. Good BBQ, but far from the best.

We're going to Decatur to go to Bib Bob Gibson's BBQ tomorrow. Heard very good things.
I'm skeptical of Dreamland because it is a chain.

Read in your blog that you wanted to OD on BBQ. I lived there for 3 years and made it a point to try every BBQ in the area. Dream Land is OK - gets a lot of publicity but the best in Birmingham is Golden Rule. Costa's is second best. Johnny Ray's third and Dimitri's in Homewood is also good. Enjoy! Go Hoyas!

The Hoop Club Blog is doing sort of a full-court press on the Alabama game. In addition to the Bay Area dudes, we've got RusskyHoya on his way down there (he's originally from Alabama), Tom Wong and Mike Karam of the blog staying at the Redmont and doing post-game recaps later this week, Gold Hoya doing a report for the Game Watch in Chicago, and me...ummmm, scraping snow off my car in DC? Here's RusskyHoya's pre-trip blog post: guhoyas.cstv.com/genrel/120507aai.htmlAnd this is my Pre-Game post that covers most of the above and links to the Game Watch page: guhoyas.cstv.com/genrel/120507aaf.htmlCheck back over the next few days, there will be plenty of new content added and I'll try to update the links to each post here.
