I have seen a bunch of posts about the Rainbow Classic that seem to be assuming that a win against OR is a given. There is a very good article about the improvement of their program currently on ESPN. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=shelman_jeff&id=1946301Gtown can not afford to look by any opponent, and I don't beleive that JTIII will allow that to happen. Either way I beleive OR is going to be a much tougher task than some may think. Personally I think they are better team than Davidson and this would be a good early season win for these young Hoyas.

Couldn't agree with you more...I'm sure that JTIII isn't looking past them at all.

I can't imagine the team overlooking Oral Roberts. For the level of talent they recruit, they overperform. They are hungry. I'm sure they would love to crush an old-school program like ours. We have to keep these things in mind -- and stay hungry ourselves!

Wow, a 7-0 Oral Roberts up against our Hoyas. They talk about this team like its their best hope ever, like a now or never situation. And then the coach says something about thinking this team will be well on its way if they win three at the Rainbow Classic... well it sounds to me like THEY might be looking past us! I doubt it, but he did talk about winning three games... not focusing on the Hoyas.
So, hopefully everyone succeeds on their exams and the Hoyas get ready for some success against Oral Roberts! I look forward to it.

Oral Roberts is a huge game for us-they have the potential to be a tournament team. (at least by winning their conference) They'll also be a good indicator of how ready the team is for Big East play. The Illinois game was nice, and the Davidson win was big, but if we beat OR, I think it'll mean that we can expect the Hoyas to be AT LEAST a middle of the pack team in the Big East w/ the potential to upset one of the top tier teams.
Also, I think we can trust JT3 to have the team ready for them. Man is it nice to have a coach you expect to make the right decision / coach properly.

I doubt anyone is looking past ORU- looking past to what? We don't know the next foe.
One game at a time, that has to be the goal. Get one win at a time by focusing in on each individual foe.

You're right that there isn't anyone really to look past to, but the Hoyas can still take Oral Roberts lightly. They can "look past" OR by not being ready to play, whether b/c of the long trip, finishing finals, lack of a student section to get them ready to play , or just b/c they're enjoying being in Hawaii instead of putting their entire focus into the game. You're right that "looking past" OR is probably the wrong way to describe it, but if they don't take OR seriously enough and assume that they're goign to win their 1st game, b/c their playing OR (a school I couldn't locate before this week), they will lose. This is not a gimmie-I think the game is pretty much even, whether in Vegas or w/ the basketball indicators.

I didn't know you guys started a thread about my school here. I already put some posts up on the Rainbow Tourney RPI thread, so if you're interested, check them out there. You'll probably find something you didn't know about my Eagles.
Oh, and I for one am not looking past the Hoyas.
