does anyone know what happened to jeff/when he got a left ankle sprain? espn has this as his status report: Green (left ankle sprain) did not practice Friday and is game-time decision for Satuday, the Seattle Times reports. (Feb 2). he didn't play in the game against the knicks... it'd be a shame to see him have to sit some games out after blowing up against cleveland like that.

Some love for Jeff on nbadraft.net's Rookie Watch
" Perennial Consummate Professional
Jeff Green F, Sonics (5th Overall, Georgetown)
I can’t say enough about Green. He’s played in Durant’s limelight with no complaints this entire year, and we know that he would do just about anything to win. Much like Derek Fisher, who came into the league alongside big guns Travis Knight and a certain Kobe Bryant, he’s a class act on and off the floor and is ready to do anything asked of him."

He also hit a 3.
On the whole, though, what a terribly played game - guys literally just standing around giving hardly any effort at all. Reminds me why I don't find the NBA entertaining at all.

(well, maybe we'd be happy with the win). And Joey -- Win over Memphis - get it? It was a joke. Get it?

Well he was 3-11 from the field, including a missed layup when the game was tied in the last minute. He was also consistently abused on defense by Rudy Gay. Would not exactly call this an above average performance by Jeff.

The lay-up he missed was like the one that Pat missed against PC on Monday. Jeff and Pat both should have dunked it with the defender running under them. Jeff missed some good shots but he had a good game, notice his D and rebounding at the end. Gay certainly did NOT abuse him. Gay was shooting bricks all night 9-23 from the field, and got most of those against that weak Sonics zone D.

I'm real high on Jeff's potential in the NBA, but he needs to get more comfortable with his game, especially his midrange jump shot. Its just been a big adjustment for him to play on the perimeter, both offensively and defensively. I think he'll be really improved next year, but he'll never be the scorer Gay is now.

most of your points are valid, but to say he will never be the scorer that Gay is...is a stretch. That is like saying Gay will never be the rebounder, passer, or all around player Jeff is. And Gay does not even try on D. As long as Jeff plays with Durant, I do not see his offensive game fully blossoming. But we will see.

He also hit a 3. On the whole, though, what a terribly played game - guys literally just standing around giving hardly any effort at all. Reminds me why I don't find the NBA entertaining at all. As someone who does find the NBA entertaining, I'm curious if you are basing your dislike of the NBA on the Rookie-Sophomore game. Is there an all-star type game in any league where much defense is played, with any effort? Was there a different game you were referring to? I don't mean to be snarky, I'm just curious.

most of your points are valid, but to say he will never be the scorer that Gay is...is a stretch. No it isnt...even if Green wasn't in Durant's shadow. On the offensive end Gay just flat out has a higher ceiling than Jeff and always has. That's not a knock on Jeff...Gay is just a seriously talented guy.

Can't speak for mapei, but many people (including myself) find the NBA just plain boring, and this judgement is based on the real games, not the All-Star ones. This conversation has happened numerous times on the board, and no one has ever succeeded in proving that the NBA is good basketball or isn't good basketball. Personally, I try watching the Sonics games when they are on TV, because I want to follow Jeff, but if he is not in the game, I flip back over to Spongebob ;D

I felt the same way about the NBA for a while, but recently (past 2 seasons or so) I began watching more games. I guess following Jeff and AI has spurred my interest, but I have been watching and enjoying other games (Sun-Lakers last night, for example). Sure there are some bad teams and there is some bad basketball out there, but if you catch a game between 2 good teams, you'll see some good basketball that is fun to watch.
I really think the NBA has turned the corner on its image problem, also.
