I had to repost this because there is no doubt that it deserves its own thread. Let's all thank nodak89 once again for this masterpiece and here is his previous post: Well, since you students are all wasting time I thought I would join in. I had a day off today and came up with this. (beware its about 5MB) myweb.cableone.net/tiongson/roy%20roy%20roy.mp3Here are the words.......... Heart of a Hoya (Eye of the Tiger) ROY…….Roy Roy Roy…………Roy Roy Roy…………Roy Roy Royyyyyyyyyyy Verse 1 Postin’ up back on the block 7’2 , you can’t teach that lefty hooker made in the lane defense knows they can’t reach that Postin’ up high on the key that’s our Roy fifty-five grabs the ball and finds the back cutter 2 more points and he keeps us alive chorus It’s the Heart of a Hoya It’s the thrill of the fight Rising up to face our Big East rivals And the next great Hoya Big Man Stalks his prey in the lane and he’s blocking their shots with the Heart………. of a Hoya ROY…….Roy Roy Roy…………Roy Roy Roy…………Roy Roy Royyyyyyyyyyy (etc) Verse 2 Boxin’ out under the basket now it’s time to get a rebound pick it up and throw it down strong don’t you know they can’t push you around chorus It’s the Heart of a Hoya It’s the thrill of the fight Rising up to face our Big East rivals And the next great Hoya Big Man Stalks his prey in the lane and he’s blocking their shots with the Heart………. of a Hoya

Anybody thought of actually contacting Survivor...I know they were from Chicago, but maybe they have some Big East -- College bball love, some free time and would love to record a version. At the very least, the pep band should record a version in conjunction with HoyaBlue and make a video that mimics the commercial. Just a thought, but how sweet would it be as a pep rallying tool to have a music video:
Waking up Brushing his teeth Heading to class Taking notes Getting back an "A" on a test Heading to the gym Blocking shots Dunking Hooker in the lane Scenes of him dancing at midnight madness
All with the band following him around playing the song...

What a difference a year makes...
Last year we had a concerted effort to write a rather negative version of American Pie.
No psychotic fans came forward to record a version on "their spare time."
Now this. It's impressive; I'm just not sure what impression it makes.

Oh, I see how it is, now people start questioning their fellow board members sanity and act like they are above us. I guess you guys are still normal enough never to consider recording a song about Roy Hibbert ;D.
Well, fine people, act like that! Because I guess it's fine to waste just as much time as everyone else as long as you don't write songs about our 7' 2" Center.
I don't care if you're scared of us or what impression it makes. This is *bleeping* awesome and the only impression I get is of a die-hard fan. ;D
I'm not actually angry, but this post may sound like it, haha. My attempt to make it look like a joke rant is the smiley faces.

nodak's rule: It's better to keep quiet and have people think maybe you are actually sane rather than opening your mouth and proving you aren't. Oops. I just broke my own rule. I guess I am nuts.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet, but you might be able to get some assistance from the MCI Center to broadcast it during games.
I think it would be much better to have the pep band learn it, have the students sing it en masse (no offense to nodak, that really was a masterpiece, outstanding work; but you know, Eye Of The Tiger ain't exactly a ballad -- you gotta' scream that bad boy out loud).
It would be even better to have Survivor record it for you. Coffee commercial or not, you know those guys aren't all that busy.
However, these things take time. If none of these things can be accomplished by the next home game, in the meantime, if you can get a clip from the actual commercial - just the Roy! Roy!Roy!Roy! part - and provide it to the MCI Center people, maybe they'll play it on the speakers at the opportune moments.
This is not unprecedented. When Jahidi was here, they used to play that Cab Calloway tune ("...hi-di-hi-di-hi-di-hi...") when he would make a big play. They usually only did it when he made a big play and was fouled (or anything that would cause a subsequent play stoppage) and they were kind of inconsistent with it, but it might be worth a shot.
I don't know who's in charge of that. If its the same guy it was when Bubbachuck was here, I think he looks a lot like Len Elmore ("yeahhh....LOOKS like")
IRREGARDLESS!!! You guys are coming up with some great stuff. Keep it up.

REGARDLESS! DISIRREGARDLESS! Anyway, just saying I loved the song and I've done many a weirder thing in worse causes. But he's still nuts. And 007, man, it's okay to mock each other once in a while, ya know? ;D

Uh yeah, so the following is the FLHoya Recap of "What was going on in my head during the Econ final I just finished taking":
trade deficit...
ROY!...
arbitrage...
ROY! ROY! ROY!...
interest rate parity...
ROY! ROY! ROY!...
International Moneta...ROY! ROY! ROOOOOOOOOY!
The British kid who sits next to me now thinks I'm completely nuts because I kept laughing during the final exam. Which is scary, because THAT kid really IS nuts!
And while all this is going on in my head, I'm also contemplating how cool it would be if all of a sudden the door flew open and the musical group Survivor walked in singing "Heart of a Hoya". And none of the other GWU grad school folk would get it but me.

I had that kind of daydream last year, too. Only for me it was sitting there in my lecture, and the BE President walking in and telling all of us that those losses that GU had did not count and that we won instead....
One can always dream, I suppose.

JT3 is right-Roy is not a mascot. He's oh so much more. When I grow up, I want to be 7'2" just like him-and as I told him on my 21st Bday-I love all 7'2" of him. (Jeff Green was kinda sad when I told him I liked Roy better than him-at least that's what my friends tell me his facial expression was ) And, wow, can he pass! It is my new goal in life to make sure that this song is passed out to every student and sung by teh entire student section at the first game (as well as the rest) after break
