finally getting the schedule right as far as:
a) a good balance with emphasis on opponents that we can beat yet who are competitive enough to cause us to improve and learn. He's got 2-4 tough games, a bunch in the middle range, and only a couple of creampuffs.
b) getting the RPI stuff right. It doesn't take a lot of top 50 teams to do it. Look at Cuse who is ahead of us on RPI yet has almost no tough opponents. They of course are doing it wrong to a good extent because they are going to get bashed in the media for not having quality OOC wins and also by the committee for the same reason.
We're doing it right by having 3-5 opponents that might be considered quality wins, a bunch of middle teams that challenge us to improve and play well yet are beatable and give us solid rpi. And only a couple creampuffs that hurt our rpi and don't help improve our game (but maybe we need to put 2 in there for exams or whatever) or because we scheduled them before their programs crashed below the 250 rpi level.
Fordham is a perfect example. Strong rpi impact yet very beatable yet will help us learn and grow. Only a 4 hour drive. Reaches our alumni base when we play there, and could help in nyc recruiting. Well done JT3.

Isn't the Fordham game home on New Year's Eve?

It's a home game anyway.

I think HoyaSpirit was refering to the assumed return game @ Fordham next season rather than the unfortionately timed home game this season

Please provide the "RPI stuff" to which you are referring.
You know the preseason "RPI stuff" doesn't matter as much as the postseason "RPI stuff," right?

Please provide the "RPI stuff" to which you are referring. You know the preseason "RPI stuff" doesn't matter as much as the postseason "RPI stuff," right? DWF compiled a comprehensive list of non conf. opponents by RPI ranking. Georgetown had the 4th best average in the Big East--behind DePaul, Louisville, and Syracuse (who doesn't play a single top 50 team). We play: 3 top 50 teams, 1 top 100 team, 3 teams from 100-200, 3 teams from 200-300, and 1 300+ team. I'm more than fine with that range of opponents. And yes, I would assume that the vast majority of posters realize that post-season berths are awarded based on post-season resumes, but I'm just guessing you don't have access to the 2007-2008 post-season rankings quite yet. If you do, you might want to put them to good use in Vegas. For now, I'm willing to use the rankings available.

Sorry, I forget to read when in offseason because I get tired of chicken every night for dinner. I won't even get into the statistical uncertainties involved with using the end of year RPIs as a basis for forward-year projections since I'm booking my Vegas flight.
