By right of seniority, Bowman and Cook should be leading this team in minutes played and shots atempted. By seniority they should be the seasoned veterans taking the needed shot at the crucial times. But, just as it was with Braswell and Perry as returning starters, the best player on the floor is a freshman. And from all read accounts(have not seen a game live or on tv this year) the second best player (at his position) is also a freshman(Wallace). Bowman and Cook have been outspoken in their belief in JT111's system because according to them it provides opportunities for everyone. Their faith in that, will be tested for the rest of this season, because it is apparrent for the Hoyas to be competitive, the offense will have to be run by Wallace and that it will have to be run through Green. That means Bowman and Cook will still have major games from time to time ,but in roles dictated on what the opposing defenses are doing to shut down the duo of Wallace and Green, not vice versa. Bowman and Cook are good players would could make this team do great things in the next 2 years, but it will happen only if they pass the test of faith. So far so good.

People are going a bit overboard. Jeff has been very impressive, but he and Brandon are by far the best players.
Wallace has been nice, but I can't say he's been better than Cook, either. Sometimes I think he gets boosted for beign a walk-on, which he's really not.
Is it impressive these players have played so well for freshmen? Yes. To say that Wallace and Green are head and shoulders above the rest of the team is incorrect.

Cook made a lot of offbalance shots last night. He makes some questionable decisions when he penetrates as well. That said, he has a good handle and has the brass to take a big shot.
I think Wallace played a very good game, frosh or not, walkon or not. The guy was pressured by physical guards and didn't cough it up. He hit 2 early shots off the pull-up that were perfect. He then ran the offense and didn't force things. He played a better game than Cook in my view. He was under control and took the shots that came to him. He only had 2 turnovers, one a lazy pass picked off by Dee Brown at the start of the Illini rally. At that point, Wallace was winded. The guy isn't big. He played big last night. Great choice to play the point in my view.

I would like to thank Brandon and Ashanti for sticking around. If they would have transferred too, as it was looking, we would have been in even more trouble. These two will get their shots but I think everyone is pleased to see freshman stepping up as well.
Bowman is our #1, Jeff is really doing well, wallace thinks the game through.
Also, is it just me or does Cook hit the hard shots and miss the one's where no one is D'ing him up?

Bowman is still the top dog, he just had a bad game last night.
I'd say it's Bowman, Green, then Wallace/Cook...they are both pretty streaky.

In addition to not letting GU get open looks from beyond the arc, Illinois was in Bowman's mug all night. Their gameplan was pretty clear - contain Bowman and Georgetown doesn't have a prayer. If Jeff and JW continue to play with the consistency they've shown over the past few games, Bowman will have plenty of moments to shine in the BE.
