after attending the game last night and sitting courtside, i have 4 questions....
1. why in the world does darrell owens start?? it is clear ross is the better of the 2. owens brings nothing what so ever to the table
2. why didn't roy hibbert play in the 2nd half? he only played like 6 minutes during the 1st half when green was in foul trouble. he didn't do that bad either.
3. how come the hoyas on 8 to 10 possessions held the ball until the shot clock was under 10 seconds? it's fine if you are going to do that if you have guards that can create, penetrate and dish out to some SHOOTERS that can know it down..but we don't have any... not ray reed is not the answer
4. where is cornilio ( spelling )? ranked #16 in the country at the center position in HS last year, you would think he would get some PT
comments...... jeff green and john wallace will be tough in the coming years. they just need some help. sorry about the email, but i thought we played tough for the 1st 18 minutes, and then it went down hill from there. also, i would have never thought i would see that much orange there unless syracuse was in town

A couple of thoughts:
on 2. While Roy played reasonably well when he was in in the first half, Illinois, particularly in the second half, played with a smaller, faster lineup, which pretty much would have made Roy a defensive liability.
related, on 3. I think that until the team has a full and complete grasp of the p. offense (and some better players and athletes to run it), this slowdown style will be how we're able to stay in games against teams like Illinois.

The Princeton offense works like this: you work your offense until you get a good shot. If you make it to the end of a shot clock wihout getting oen, you jack up a three.
Illinois had good perimeter defenders that hounded our guards all night.
Reading this board, people are acting like that if Brandon had "shown up" or Jeff had played five more minutes we would have won.
Say this with me folks:
"Illinois won because they are the better team."
Could we have won? Sure. But they are the better team.

i do believe and im no coach that a few times early at 20 or 25 seconds jeff had his man clear to the hoop likedwise ramell ross.. if the coach lets them go that may open up the princeton offense just a thought be a not very good bball player but a thougth the coach is great so far and i hope having fun cause i sure am

If that's true lic, then the player should take the shot. But the gist of III's comments is that the players are not yet fully comfortable in the offense -- they are still thinking about what to do, rather than doing the right thing instinctually.
Hopefully, we'll have that down later in the season.
