Incredible run from Chloe! Congratulations to her! It's a shame Melissa had a rough go, and I hope she's ok. Looks like the women finished 18th with 419 points. Nevada, thank you for updating me on Melissa's illness this week. So brave of her to give it a go for the team today, and my heart breaks for her getting sick at this point after all the hard work and superb performances she's put in. Best wishes for her to recover and come back for the rest of the year.

Men's team championship was wild. OK State won with 49 points, the lowest since Stanford's legendary 2003 24 point championship. NAU was second in the men's race as well. Congrats to coach Smith. Checking again - this time wearing my glasses - Wisconsin men scored 37 in 2005. Point stands, a dominant performance for OSU.

In the men's race, the leaders were out in 2:29 at 1k which... MIGHT not be sustainable.
Saw a big pack of Hoyas running a more, let's say measured, pace and seem in decent early position.

It looks as if the Hoyas are the last at-large team. xcquals.com/2023/m/quals/8fc3b4567ee885e1cb4960bb81efb398/projections.html if his formula is correct, yeah 31st team in. CBU finished behind Gonzaga and Portland, so takes an at-large rather than an Auto (also Portland wasn't projected as an at-large pre-meet). NC State ran well in the SE and took another unexpected at-large. Hope this projection holds. The men competed really well today, it would be great for them to get into the meet, especially with it so close to home.

The men's team's best chance for at-large points would come from their performance at Nuttycombe. Teams ranked in the top-5 of their regions who the Hoyas beat there include:
GREAT LAKES Butler (2nd), Michigan St. (5th) MIDWEST Loyola-IL (3rd), Tulsa (4th) NORTHEAST Providence (5th) SOUTH Florida St. (3rd) WEST Washington (3rd)
So that's who we're rooting for elsewhere to qualify and get us points (also, as teams claim at-large bids, more points are awarded but for simplicity sake, let's hope Butler, FSU and Loyola get auto spots [and obviously, we're rooting for the men to avoid math and finish top-2 at Lehigh).

Terrific run by the women and very encouraging for the men. Getting the win over teams like Florida St. and Ole Miss, which are from historically thin regions is very good for the Hoyas' at-large chances.

Beating fellow sub-4:00 HSer Simeon Birnbaum, too! Earlier in the week, Birnbaum was competitive running against the pros in his 1500m heat. Tinoda getting the win here leading the whole way is huge!
I've said it before, but I am so excited for Tinoda to be a Hoya!

Every time Tinoda races, I get more excited about him. Seems like a wonderful student athlete.

Josette made a great-looking move about ~450 out to take the lead from Laura Muir, but Muir is a World Champs medalist for a reason and fought back to overtake Josette at the bell and won in 4:20.15 to Josette's 4;20.88. Josette looked really good and ran a fantastic race! Excited for what the outdoor season holds for her!

Good for Amos on making the switch. I was wondering where he'd end up after leaving Bowerman.
